FYI, for Neptune Maytag MLE2000AYW (stacked combo), the FRONT bearing dimensions are 35mm x 72mm x 17mm and the REAR bearing dimensions are 30mm x 62mm x 16mm. The Front Seal Kit 120002022 does not always come with the bearings... be sure to check with the supplier that the 2 bearings and the Seal kit get ordered.

a few things i may add for the laymen here that are just like me. For the bearing spacer I used 2 seperate size of pvc pipe and 2" electricle tape. the back bearing is smaller, u can find a piece of pipe that slides through that then find a larger piece that the smaller pipe fits inside. Wrap with the electricle tape as needed. The tape will form and easily slide in and out of the bearings and sleeve. I made mine about a 1 1/2' long. worked purfectly. \ Also, its easier with the spacer tool i made out of pvc to put the back bearing in first. Instead of using a flathead screwdriver for the seal on the shaft find some pvc pipe that will go over the shaft and sit on the floor part of the seal and gently tap, any homeowner that attempts to use a flat head screwdriver is just askin for trouble..

That would have been a dream! Our old front bearing race was fused to the housing. We beat on it for two days, then Wart Remover freeze off to the rescue! Thanks!

Just eyeballing it... Those bearings loop pretty darn similar to a trailer tire bearing. I am sure they may be a different size though... But how cool would it be if Maytags engineer gave us a little Appalachian joke in the design and we could just use trailer bearings. :)

I installed VBX bearings 3 years ago. Now my washer is making these snapping sounds when the drum turns. I'm going to try FSP bearings instead next time. They claim to be OEM. I didn't feel that the VBX bearings fit perfectly. I could never get the snap ring back on with those.

Hey Cudaclan do you happen to know the Torque spec for the pulley bolt? I found 30 ft pounds on the net. Do you know if this is correct? Thanks eh

is the socket that you used to remove the Sump Cap a special socket. I'm having a hard time finding one that fits into the hole

Sump Cap? The manual has no reference by that name. Any and all sockets used were off the shelf metric/imperial. I believe you are referencing the bearings?

Does the bearing spacer remain in place or is it pulled after bearing installation?

Is the bearing spacer needed? Mine was broken between my falling apart bearings. Also, there was no retaining ring on my rear bearing. Is that a big deal? Could the electric motor be swapped for a 340 6bbl? :D

Spacer is needed. Snap ring is needed. The motor can be replace separately (cost may prohibit a complete replacement).

What size socket are you using when you lined up the bearing separator ?

Apologies. I have forgotten. I do remember using a socket with the OD fitting through the smaller bearing. I had to R&R the bearing set again (4X). Getting to the 20 year anniversary of this unit.

I replaced both bearing in my Neptune washer. Put it all back together. Washer won't spin now at all. Any ideas?

So in a nutshell the back bearing where the pulley is does not have a seal. The fact that they supply you with two seals only means that you will be needing one or the other. Strange as this is, there is not a place that anyone will tell you that. Not in parts, not in videos. And I thought mine was actually missing as there is clearly enough lip there for a seal. As the so called professional won't tell you this, well go figure. Circus? yea circus clowns.

The seal is to contain water from entering the bearing hub assembly. Hence, one seal on "wet" side. Two seals are provided due to two different designs. Only one is used. The manual defines this. The work-horse is still chugging along after 20 yrs.
