Maytag 3000 Series Dryer Not Heating Up

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

My Maytag 3000 series dryer stopped heating the other day. Five years ago the heater warped and took out the heater. So I thought it was the same thing and orderd a new heater. Lets see what is wrong with it.

This tutorial saved me a ton of time and money. I ordered a replacement parts kit for $65. Arrived next day. Took me just over an hour to disassemble, clean out, swap the broken parts and put back together. The dryer is running better than ever and I’m a much less stressed mama. Moving mountains…of laundry! Thanks for this!

Nice Job again! .... You are now officially known as "The Maytag Repairman." I'm surprised the heating system of the MAYTAG needs so much maintenance, Do you think the burned wire was caused by failure of the fuse to open in the circuit? What turns the drum? ... belt; direct drive? Fortunately, , the only maintenance I have had on my 1982 Sears KENMORE electric dryer was the drum belt in 2005. I

This is a great video that you provided. However when I watched other dryer repairman test the thermostat and heating element they make it look so much more easier than you did. They just basically test for continuity and that will show them exactly what failed instead of taking everything apart like you did and you made it seem so complicated. I understand that you’re trying to rebuild the whole entire heating assembly. What you did is like changing the tires on your car when the tires still have threading and is still good. You should’ve just change the fuse that blew and keep using that heating element that still works to preserve the new one that you ordered. You can be used at a later time.

  • @TheGAutomotiveAndMore

No you are wrong. A visual inspection should be done first. Then if nothing is found then do a resistance test. The wire burned up because to much resistance in either the connection or the element. If you watched the whole video I explained why I replaced everything, but I will tell you again. The plate that holds the element was cracked and warped. It will eventually touch the element, short it out and brake the element. I figure the elements only last about 5 years because I replaced the original one after 5 years. Now another 5 years have passed and it starting to do the same thing. Warping and cracking. This time I replaced everything because I only replaced the element last time. In your statement you say to replace the fuse. The fuse was not bad , The wire had burned up.

Changing out the items you had and cleaning the dryer made the most sense to me. Why not replace the items since you had it apart. The part cost is reasonable and cheaper than a new dryer. Clearly the heating element needed to be replaced with the warping and cracking. Also, I feel like the way you showed what you did allowed viewers to see the lint that collects so they can see it needs to be cleaned out to avoid a fire. Thank you for sharing this content. As a single woman on a limited budget I feel like I will be able to repair the dryer on my own. You are appreciated.

I need some help! I put in the new heating element, thermostat and fuse but I can't figure out how to put the filter housing cover back on. Mine is a 5000 series but it looks exactly like this one when opened up. I took off the filter fan housing cover off to clean up the lint (just like in the video, it was a good thing to clean that mess up!) However, I'm having trouble getting the housing cover back on due to the long flat bent metal piece that goes through the back of the housing cover to the inside. Which was does it go? How did you reinstall it? At 2:28 in the video it is the piece that you say "I don't know why that's loose". And then when the Drier is reassembled, at 16:14 you say "I didn't need to pull this off" the housing is back on. I need to know how you reinstalled it!
