Today people are tired of being slaves. Remote work is in. And with the cost of living, food and gas, I honestly don’t blame them for wanting to work remote. Less commuting and more productivity. Plus, remote workers support the small businesses in their neighborhoods because they are home.

If the “I had to do it so you have to do it” mindset was universal life would still be the same as it was from the first generation of humanity. It’s backward thinking. Why not allow flexibility and a comfortable workforce as long as the projects are completed at the same rate. Considering city employees are already taking less pay than private what incentive do people have left?

She doesn't care as she pretends. Why don't you use funds for education, infrastructure, free programs for these lost children, programs that teach students to handle conflict, and provide free stem programs for low income families earning less than 60k. Not all jobs need to be in a cubicle. Thank goodness it doesn't affect me personally, but her energy is focused in the wrong direction. I'm still waiting for smooth streets. Her comments about DC are misleading. and not factual. DC workers weren’t laid off. Positions are not being filled. Also, the financial impact of DC Government workers and telework is minimal. DC workers had 2 days of telework prior to the pandemic. Now, there is one day. Using fear tactics to rally support is ridiculous and a sign of weakness. DC’s mayor isn’t a good example of leadership. She wins by low voter turnout. DC does well because its City Council fixes what she messes up.

Sorry I can’t get with it. Am I the only one that sees the contradictions? So I take it those that want to continue remote work is “Anti-work”? Those jobs she mentioned have the ability to be out in the open or removed from crowds not sitting at a desk in a office. Times are completely different than when she was a staffer. Im am from DC. I am a federal government employee that lives here in Philadelphia. I work in DC and go into the office twice every 2 weeks and remote work the rest here at home. People are more relaxed and more productive working remote. Remote working has allowed businesses to downsize offices and reduce the costs they incur for overhead, leases and buildings. Remote work reduces air pollution, emissions, and traffic. It promotes mental health and well being, and allows a better work/life balance for employees. No one takes into account the psychological aspects of having to commute into an office everyday. Yet, she had to go and find the 1 article from an uncrediable, unknown, unrecognized source. When there is an abundance of other articles promoting the effectiveness of remote work. She could not find any articles from the Washington Post or Times, a credible source? The commenter just stated economically, remote work revitalizes neighborhoods. Yet, the Mayor’s response was “Everyone has their opinions” and she would not discuss it. Yet, turned around and affirmed the negative against remote working. Her rouse is pathetic. You cannot say you want to implement change when you want to revert back to antiquated way of working. She seems like she is a nitpicking, micromanaging control freak. Because of people or “leadership”like her offices have low to no morale, high stress, low productivity and a high rate of turnover.

It's all nonsense. There is no real reason for doing this right now. City worker production has been high. She spoke on what's going on in DC in comparison to what's happened in NY & MD where they still have hybrid and why??? DC can fit in north Philadelphia and is no comparison. Also when asked if we had the same economic situation as DC the answer was "NO, we have an A+ rating". This is with no change. Parker wants city employees to patronize Center City businesses. She's not for city workers, she's for the contractors and developers. I go to work everyday yet I still support hybrid. Ya'll are just haters...

Efficacy matters more than laziness when it comes to job performance, getting paid, work ethic, etc. Just bc it is 2024, doesn’t mean it is correct. There are PLENTY OF THINGS DONE THROUGHOUT VARIOUS TIMES THAT WERE WRONG,CRUEL, Irresponsible, selfish, detrimental, etc. If u want a paycheck from a city, you should honor the city and it’s taxpayers by performing in the space provided by the city to do so.

@@TheScrappingBeauty I personally don't think working from home is wrong cruel or selfish. If people aren't working efficiently they can still be fired, but if they're meeting deadlines what difference does it make if they're working at their computer at home or downtown? The people who need to be in the office to do physical things are already back. Plus, when you factor in commuting time, it's actually more efficient to work from home

That's not a thing. We use vpns, software phone systems. We We don't answer calls our supervisor is notified. We don't have as much freedom to "hide" in bathroom like when in the office but we are more productive. I use to time out my work so I leave at exactly 5pm dispite how much more work was needed and OT being offered. Issue was I'm not trying to be downtown til 7-8pm then catching a bus back home. However, now I'm doing more work always on time and don't care about staying late. We have become more productive due to less in office distractions. If all my work can technically be done from my cellphone as it's mostly clerical that uses electronic databases, what's the point of getting up 2 hrs early commuting and another 2 hrs to get back home?

@@jthomas1177 no, I got hired to perform a task. I do my task for over 40 (typically 46 hours) work hours each week. I don't work in sales , or food it's an office with no direct contact to clients. If I'm 2 minutes over on break I'm getting a phone call. If I miss a clients call I'm getting a phone call. There are people in the office who every hour take a smoke break and it's on company time. At home they don't allow for "smoke breaks" but if I wanted to I could smoke and work. At the office many run to the local diner for food cause them to be 5-10 minutes over on lunch. I go upstairs cook a nice meal relaxing watching TV then clock back in. No need to rush back to the office.

There are so many mayors across the city in the world who has requested people to be turned back to every day work. Some people refuse and those mayors stop those checks they put those jobs up for grabs. This because we are all fighting for Philadelphia to be a better city Philadelphia have to work with the mayor and police commissioner because so many private and corporate American jobs. People are showing up to work. Some positions are high break Even retail workers cannot work from home. It is time to Philadelphia stick with the mayor and the police commissioner as they have a fresh approach, not only tackling homelessness, the drugs, the violence they’re trying to get people back to work. We all wanna legacy why are we gonna tarnish this woman’s legacy with lawsuits? Vicious lies and not work with her. She has been very positive positive every step of the way nothing negativeand nothing she said during her campaign, she has not tried to do or conquer in her short time in office. I’m gonna say kudos to this African-American woman she’s somebody’s mother sister, grandmother, auntie cousin have some respect for her name.

At the end of the day she is not offering no raises, septa is still always late, there is multiple homeless people sleeping where the city workers have to go into work at. The cops cannot be everywhere at once. It would have been awesome if the mayor addressed and tackled those issues first. That would have shown she actually cared about the city workers well being. Some people don't have positions that has to fight crime. I m sure HR departments were hybrid hiring fire fighters, police, social workers, making sure everyone got paid. So I guess there job was not important because they had 1 or 2 remote days😂
