You summed it up well. The impact economically to orgs and the city due to remote work is the issue.
Today people are tired of being slaves. Remote work is in. And with the cost of living, food and gas, I honestly don’t blame them for wanting to work remote. Less commuting and more productivity. Plus, remote workers support the small businesses in their neighborhoods because they are home.

They want to impoverish local business to keep center city an attraction even though it only attracts vagrants and is now synonymous with economic pain

Sad that these companies still haven’t caught on that people work more remotely. The time you take for commuting you are now working so in reality you are working more.

If the “I had to do it so you have to do it” mindset was universal life would still be the same as it was from the first generation of humanity. It’s backward thinking. Why not allow flexibility and a comfortable workforce as long as the projects are completed at the same rate. Considering city employees are already taking less pay than private what incentive do people have left?

If the people doing call center and case management work, they can do it from home which will help the traffic in downtown Philly and help the workers save on car gas and childcare expenses. She don’t care about the employees, they care about themselves and being superior over others. You can do that just by a video teams meeting
If employee productivity hasn’t dropped why mandate them to return to office? Does work life balance not matter? If you can do the job just as well at home why force them into an office and have a commute and pay for parking? Please someone tell me

There’s a residency requirement to work for Philadelphia. It’s not bringing money to the city it’s bringing it from other parts of the city downtown. Furthermore city policy was in office 3 days, it is highly unlikely those extra two days will make much of a difference. Where is that money coming from, buying lunch? I remember how she wasn't supportive of keeping that Wadsworth library open. She wanted a mobile library. Closing libraries would have affected kids in the community. She doesn't care as she pretends. Why don't you use funds for education, infrastructure, free programs for these lost children, programs that teach students to handle conflict, and provide free stem programs for low income families earning less than 60k. Not all jobs need to be in a cubicle. Thank goodness it doesn't affect me personally, but her energy is focused in the wrong direction. I'm still waiting for smooth streets. We need to bill the city for new axles, new shocks, and new tires. She's so fake!
Her comments about DC are misleading. and not factual. DC workers weren’t laid off. Positions are not being filled. Also, the financial impact of DC Government workers and telework is minimal. DC workers had 2 days of telework prior to the pandemic. Now, there is one day. Using fear tactics to rally support is ridiculous and a sign of weakness. DC’s mayor isn’t a good example of leadership. She wins by low voter turnout. DC does well because its City Council fixes what she messes up.

City employees pay taxes also!!! One ☝🏾 term Mayor. She’s only concerned with herself and not the city.
As a Md Gov employee being in the office doesn’t denote harder work it just allows you to see the employees. I do not work with the public per se’ So remote work can be monitored and managed as it could is I was in person. I do think that customer service in public agencies has to be addressed there HAS to be ppl rotating in the office daily there has to be ppl ANSWERING the phone. There has to be a commitment to resolution without transferring
Now this Lady sounds strong and I think she will be a great Mayor. I heard she already cleaning it up. Yes a lot of work but I think she got this as long as she is helped. U go Mayor. I like her.

I'm not with this return to office. As soon as I find another remote job I'm out.
Sometimes a new chief ain’t it. JMO.
Sorry I can’t get with it. Am I the only one that sees the contradictions? So I take it those that want to continue remote work is “Anti-work”? Those jobs she mentioned have the ability to be out in the open or removed from crowds not sitting at a desk in a office. Times are completely different than when she was a staffer. Im am from DC. I am a federal government employee that lives here in Philadelphia. I work in DC and go into the office twice every 2 weeks and remote work the rest here at home. People are more relaxed and more productive working remote. Remote working has allowed businesses to downsize offices and reduce the costs they incur for overhead, leases and buildings. Remote work reduces air pollution, emissions, and traffic. It promotes mental health and well being, and allows a better work/life balance for employees. No one takes into account the psychological aspects of having to commute into an office everyday. Yet, she had to go and find the 1 article from an uncrediable, unknown, unrecognized source. When there is an abundance of other articles promoting the effectiveness of remote work. She could not find any articles from the Washington Post or Times, a credible source? The commenter just stated economically, remote work revitalizes neighborhoods. Yet, the Mayor’s response was “Everyone has their opinions” and she would not discuss it. Yet, turned around and affirmed the negative against remote working. Her rouse is pathetic. You cannot say you want to implement change when you want to revert back to antiquated way of working. She seems like she is a nitpicking, micromanaging control freak. Because of people or “leadership”like her offices have low to no morale, high stress, low productivity and a high rate of turnover.
It's all nonsense. There is no real reason for doing this right now. City worker production has been high. She spoke on what's going on in DC in comparison to what's happened in NY & MD where they still have hybrid and why??? DC can fit in north Philadelphia and is no comparison. Also when asked if we had the same economic situation as DC the answer was "NO, we have an A+ rating". This is with no change. Parker wants city employees to patronize Center City businesses. She's not for city workers, she's for the contractors and developers. I go to work everyday yet I still support hybrid. Ya'll are just haters...
