Nice looking bass. I'm not a fan of bartolini pups but I do like the Delano pre. Still a nice versatile bass. Gotta check these guys out now. A 5 or 6er in this style would be right up my alley! Great thorough informative video.

Such a great review and awesome bassplayer. I've watched it dozens of times, also because I'm seriously considering getting a Mayones. I've tried the Viking 5, but please, please, please do a Prestige 4 review. It's impossible to find a Mayones seller in the place I am now.

Hi! Do u think this viking model given the same wood choice and specs, would have as the same sound features as the mayones pi model for wojtek pilichowski?

Beautiful bass, the wengue neck for me is the best, i have a Warwick with the same kind of neck, and the tone and playability is amazing. I dont like the OBP pre amp, is the only thing i’ll change if i have one.

This bass looks amazing! I really like that sound, any chance to see this one in any retailer in Europe ? (France to be precise)

+Tim othé you might want to write to Mayones and ask what shops have ordered one. I know for a fact that this bass went to a dealer right after we finished our review

hi david! "beautiful people" ... not really, just influenced slightly by the particular groove as well as the sound in that very moment, i guess. i'm making up most of the grooves spontaneously, so ideas keep flying at me all the time whilst in a session. but yeah, i've noticed the coincidence, too! :-) atb from germany, lars

Sounded more like the bassline to Pantera Walk being played in the wrong tuning to me. Also, holy shit dude, you come up with those tapping lines on the spot? Thats crazy

I'm sure Mayones will make this bass finish the way you like it. I like it but would rather have a natural finish. This is my dream bass , Gregor never mentioned the price.

What's the price that you bought this bass for Bassworld.com? I'm sure there are people interested in basses offered for less with the same tone/features. I've owned a Mayones Jabba Classic 5 and a Fodera MG 5 and loved them but found there are options tone wise that could be bought for less...

+Robin Betton I usually don’t talk about prices of high quality basses because they can be very different from country to country. While Europeans might pay 3 grand for a bass, someone in South America might have to pay twice as much due to import fees, tax, bribes for customs, etc.

BassTheWorld.com well how about starting with giving list prices for review products US, EU and Japan (lands of few bribes) ? Something no other reviewer has done? Or at minimum stepping up to the ball plate such as other leading agencies such as bass player or bass guitar magazine stating stock prices (in the country where It is reviewed) It may be informative and helpful in a review.

Gregor, I'm sure you won't see this comment, but I've always wondered. As a bass player, why haven't you ever demoed a bass on this channel?

I have, I made approx. 100 demos when I started this channel, most of them are deleted already. For me it's hard to play something appropriate when I have to think about camera settings and recording stuff at the same time. There's a good reason why there are musicians and producers/engineers in a studio. I chose to become a producer and hire amazing bassists for these videos and I think that way we achieve way better results.

The shape reminds me of rickenbacker

For some reason Mayones basses with soapbars sound too obnoxious to me (especially with Aguilar DCBs). In fact, that's the thing that turned me down from soapbar style pickups

G I think Mayones probably sucks at voicing humbuckers. because I heard a Sire M7 and an Ibanez SR370E that sounded better than any Mayones bass I have ever heard with humbuckers and about the P bass thing, I became a little bit more open minded about basses, maybe it can work perfectly for you, but I just prefer cutting through the nix rather than sitting in the back of it (that's why I love Musicman basses lol) But still, P is much better than PJ

Re: Soapbars on Mayones basses, I don't agree at all, and think probably you haven't heard a lot of their basses. Mohini Dey and Federico Malaman both play Mayones basses with soapbars, and they sound absolutely incredible. Fat, punchy, extremely modern, versatile sound . Way better than a Sire M7 or Ibanez SR 370, no comparison. Re: the P Bass sits in the mix better than any bass ever made. P Bass occupies its own sonic space which is what you want, that's why it is the most popular electric bass ever made. Nothing against Stingrays, but without the P Bass growl, it's not speaking to me in my soul. Cheers.

G I personally want to cut through and not sit in the back of the mix. Federico Malaman's bass is the only Mayones bass tone I ever liked, but tones like Wojtec Pillichowski's tone and some of Or Lubianiker's tones sound pretty obnoxious to me and it's disappointing, because the same pickups sounded really good on a Spector Euro 5 bass

That sound is not my thing, but she's so pretty !

Nothing worse than wanting to hear the tone of a potential bass purchase by checking otu a review video to find the demo guy doing that slap crap. Not everybody slaps, so annoying.
