I was lucky to have seen Maynard in concert 5 times, did trumpet clinic and had lunch with him! Incredible talent!
I still listen to the Boss on a regular basis. He was one of the nicest guys you could meet with an infectious smile and just upbeat. He is truly missed by us trumpet Geeks. Till this day many try to copy him and his playing but there will only ever be one Maynard!

What is there not to love of this legendary trumpet virtuoso ? Though in later years of his long career he was still trying to top that one last note he never failed to deliver the big band sound for us to enjoy in awh and wonder how does one human hit those high screeching notes ? Blessed talent years of practice and rehearsal , finding the best pic-up band members dedicate to the art of music and their instrument of choice .

Hi, I bought the Seattle DVD and had trouble watching it more than once, due to the end of Rocky. I'm sure there were many high school auditoriums all over Flyoverland where MF nailed the last note, then he misses it here. If I had only known what was coming with KZread, I would not have spent money on the DVDs, "At the Top" and Seattle. MF is playing Rocky as I'm typing this and I put it on mute, sorry sorry. But I always loved MF.

I like how they did that double time groove with the piano solo. Appropriate for his later years and a nice adaption of the more rock version of the '70's. Piano player started to hint at wanting to put some substitute chords to take it somewhere else but kept it safe. I would have had somebody re-write the entire arrangement with this feel and some cooler harmonics but his fans wanted to hear the ole Rocky.

Fantastic and iconic contemporary Big Band.
