mix some washing up liquid with water in a spray bottle and when you break the bead, spray around the rim of the tyre and the inside of the wheel. then get yourself some tyre bead clamps of bay to keep the bead down in the groove and to allow you to lever over the ducks head. tyres with a tall side wall are easier as once the bead is broken, is tends to sit on the groove of the rim and allows you to lever. high performance low profile tyres have stiff sidewalls that tend to keep the bead out.

The assist arm for the machine makes a world of difference great video

Without a helper arm on the machine, tire lube and tire spoons are your best friend, and you only learn by getting hands on. You have the drive just keep it going

Nice job! Wy Weds Kranze 6.5” barrel is super big with no lip but is completely flat 19” has to be reversed mounted. A lot of skill is required to get the tire on

Appreciate it man! Yeah i struggled trying to find good info on mounting tires when I first got this machine but through trial and error as well as suggestions from friends and commenters on here, I’ve been able to pickup on good techniques/methods.

Great video, I'm always looking for tips and tricks to give myself an easier time and not ruin tires.

This video came in clutch with the two tire irons when I was mounting low profiles. Was about to give up after hours of struggling until i saw this video and had almost instant success. Thanks dude!

That's a rough job. I purchased the assist arm to help with this type of wheel but I think it'd also help to have a bead clamp. I'm going to order one for my setup just for the convenience.

I tried using one of those bead clamps off amazon but it was a PITA to install on certain style wheels and kept popping off. My problem was that I was too lazy to apply a sufficient amount of lubricant. It looks hard but it really isn’t that bad once you have a technique down. And no wheels were damaged in this video.

When u said you were "Breathing hard, I'm getting a work out." I almost died. 😆 I work at a tire shop and we have 3 machines. We do on average 90 cars a day. That averages 120 tires per guy per machine. But onto of that I have to take all the wheels off the cars, half time fighting stuck / swollen lugs, go get new tires, change them, balance them, dispose old tires, mount and tourqe back on vehicle. This includes everything from low-pro to 37in mud tires. And we get 5 deliverys a day of new tires we unload and have yo physically throw up to the second story of our shop /loft and stack for storage.. yes I understand you don't do this all the time. I'm not trying to be mean or pick. I just got a chuckle when u said that. Not picking fun. Was just thinking man you would be whooped if u worked at our shop.

See if you can spray something into the bead before taking the tire off. Taking it off dry is very difficult. I've got a bead press arm on my similar machine and it lets you spin the assembly with the tire pressed down a little to get some lube on the bead before taking it off. Then it slides down into the drop very easily when you put the bar on the duckbill and lift it over. Without the assist arm, spraying WD-40 or something should help if the bead is already broken.

I know this is a year old now, but you need to put oil in your system! Just to the left of your moisture filter is where you need to put in jack oil/hydraulic fluid/ATF. This will keep your machine from failing on you. Also, nice job, low profile tires are a PITA.

They have devices that clamp on the wheel to force the bead in the wheel well.

Yes it does. There’s air nozzles in the jaws that grab the wheel.

I actually don’t know what you are referring to. Kind of curious now, can you elaborate more as to what you are talking about? Is this the oil that’s in the small reservoir where the air connects to the machine? Like the air tool oil?

Yes! You most definitely want to have an in-line oiler/regulator. That’s the main reason I got my machine on discount! No oil blew apart the bead breaker! Usually 2-3 drops per 5-6 pedal pumps of the bead breaker is general rule of thumb. But I would go off manufacturer’s instructions

When you mounted the last bead , you didn’t go over the duck tail while going under the duck head.

I see the tires that were on the wheels were 35s. So did you put 35s back on or were they a little bigger? It’s hard telling in the video lol. But I usually run 35s or 40s and have been thinking about getting one of these machines since I change tires twice a year and get impatient waiting for a garage that’ll get me in. Most won’t even do them for me because I run a little stretch (usually 215s on 9 wides so nothing too crazy). They’re scared something will happen. I just did 205/35s on nine wides (to see how I like that setup) by hand and although it wasn’t too bad, a machine definitely would have been much nicer 😂.

You mean the wheel balancer? I’m not sure what would need to be calibrated on the tire machine to be honest.

Thanks for the video! I've been considering getting a tire machine once I start tracking my car more. This was exactly what I wanted to know! I have 19" rims (tires are 265/35/19) and I've talked to a few tire shops and they didn't want to try as they were worried they'd scratch the wheels up. One thing I noticed was at 10:14 the machine was spinning but the wheel and tire stayed put. Aren't you worried that would scratch the wheel?

Looks bad lol but the jaws grabbing the wheels actually have a thick plastic cover that covers each jaw, wont really scratch it. The only time you should worry about scratching wheels is usually when you’re grabbing the inside of the wheels with the outer part of the jaws. I plan on doing more videos of low profile tires as soon as i get more low pro tires that need to be mounted/dismounted. It actually becomes a breeze to do over time, i promise!

He probably did scratch em. Ideally you wanna clamp from the outside. I believe only certain wheels you clamp like he did.

@@dumbeezy5480 no harm were done to these wheels. They would’ve scratched for sure if i had the “outer” side of the jaws clamped from inside the wheel tho

There are some cheap plastic tire/rim clamps on amazon that will make your life allot easier and avoid scratchers from your tire irons, they will hold that bead down in the rim valley for you, or get a machine with the extra assist arms they do the same as the rim/tire clamps.. Only other thing I spotted that you missed was a soapy water spray or tire lube of the "top" bead after breaking them, helps remove the tire easier. Your machine was struggling to grasp the wheel.. a soapy water spray of that top bead would have fixed that,. Ask any woman, dry rubber is never good... Cheers! & thanks for making the video, you explained allot of the little details most over look, like avoiding TPMS and the yellow dot on the tire being the lightest point and should be aligned with the valve stem. Red dots are the flattest part of the tire.. if your wheels have marks for this it may be of use, but most dont unless new.

Low profile wheels are a nightmare, SCC automotive seems to have a machine that covers most low profile stuf. I only do my Friends, hence if I score a rim they dont moan?..You are doing well Br'o...

Appreciate the feedback! Really just wanted to show that these style rims/tires are very doable on my “ebay” tire machine/any standard style tire machine for the most part.

How do tell if it needs to be reverse mount

I see now why my rims were chipped. When prying off the old tires the little sphere on the end of the duck bill came into contact with the edge of the rim. Tires were 315/35/20. Went to kaltire. I knew it was going to be a mistake going there.

I’ve used those drop center tools and didn’t find them helpful with certain style wheels or with a very tight/hard sidewall. And i do use tire lubricant especially for mounting. I usually spray a soapy solution when dismounting a hard tire, i just couldn’t find my spray bottle when i was recording this video. It isn’t absolutely necessary but it helps

If 17inch tire won’t seat or pop can I do 50psi ?

Ive done up to 80psi before to get a tire to seat/pop. Some things that have helped me in the past with tight fitting tires: - spray a water/dish soap solution or wd40(some sort of lubricant) along the edge of the rim and tire. - as you fill up the tire, grab a mallet or a piece of wood and tap on the tire (tread part) near the area where the bead hasn’t seated yet

@@MJAltairy tire is 265 70R17, I only did 45psi because the tire mount machine says do not excess over 40psi..there was an opening 1/4 left I couldn’t pop...I’ll go redo it tomorrow with a supervisor and I didn’t match the yellow/red dots to the valve stem, those dots were on the other end 🤦‍♂️

Ive done a few Scatpacks and hellcats with similar size tires. Def a tough tire especially if they’re street high performance tires with the really stiff sidewalls.

Some rims got a sensor. I Almost damaged a customer one. It was kinder damaged. But i didnt went close at the value. The customer was very Angry. That in mind you can get brand new one🤷.

You made this look so much harder than it is my guy soooo much harder.

Not to be mean , but you need more time researching tire machine techniques and assistance tools cause your still kinda doing it the harder way. Just a friendly suggestion cause I’ve been there also.

How would you have changed it up? I’m not a tire technician by trade so I don’t necessarily need all the special tools in the books. Purpose of the video is to show that anyone can get by with this Mayflower tire machine without having to buy the fanciest machines out there.

Well I will say that balancer is actually crap especially for low profile tires like these. The tire mounting machine is decent I've seen it work well nothing wrong with it but the balancer... ehh not so much. Put it this way it ain't Hunter Road force balancer that's for sure.

Yea i can agree with ya on that but for the most part, it definitely gets the job done. Whenever i need better balancing, i just drop my car off at my local Costco and they’ll roadforce balance all 4 under 30 bucks.

This guy honestly doesnt know what hes doing. The small diameter part of the rim is called the well. You need to have the whole bead of the tire sitting down in the well before you try to turn the rim.

No way you’re doing that with a stiff sidewall/high performance low profile tire…at least with out a helper arm. You can definitely do that with a soft sidewall passenger/standard tire though.

Thats not a revers drop center wheel the smallest center band is closest to the front lip.

If those wheels are worth ANYTHING you should 10000000% not be using a rim clamp. You should never take expensive forged wheels to major tire stores ever. I had a $2200 claim against one after they gouged one beyond repair. And OMG totally not the correct equipment at all for reverse drop wheels.
