A few weeks back On Deck Sound Studio took submissions for a remote recording project. I was really interested to see if the collective energy we are sharing would come through in each submission. I only gave a simple prompt to send me a single track in the key of G, at 100bpm, with a theme of how we are still together even when we are far away from each other. Everyone took a leap of faith and came up with a part without hearing anyone else’s submission. When I loaded everything into the session I was a bit nervous as hitting play revealed a giant cacophony of sound. It took a week of listening until the seed of the song presented itself. I started to edit and move things around, loops were created, tracks were reversed… Soon enough this really beautiful song started to reveal itself. Like weeding a garden, it can take time to clear enough space for everything to really bloom. Hope you enjoy this. A huge thanks to everyone that submitted. There were 42 individual submissions.
