I had a good time with it personally but I could see why it doesn’t work for others. Glad u found some enjoyment in the pros tho

We are on the same page! I LOVE Mia Goth loved Pearl and really liked X. This movie let me down soo much. So many great ingredients but the story was all over the place. The 3rd act was actually borderline terrible. I hatebto say it, I walked in expecting to love this movie.

I like the short breakdown of what this going to be about and the intro. Idk maybe different mic bc it sounds better? I also enjoyed the editing and we see more of you which feels more personal like I’m having a convo with a friend.

It was a solid watch but yeah i agree that third act was pretty lackluster

Didn’t see Pearl and only first part of X but as an 80s kid saw this tonight and totally agree with you. The third act went off the rails! Seemed like a parody at that point and was all the Hitchcock stuff supposed to be an homage? Weird.

Did anyone else notice that in the opening scene when Maxine is a girl, she does the same dance that Pearl did when she was auditioning? I kept waiting for that to mean something in the movie, like was Maxine related to Pearl, but nothing came of it.

I think X is my favorite of all the movies. But I was already a fan of Ti West from House of the Devil. This movie was good though, I agree the ending was a little tedious

I definitely felt the same way about the killer reveal.

Oh damn wasn’t expecting that score. Not tryna trash giallos because I love them but do you think the subplots feeling incomplete kinda goes along with how giallos tend to have convoluted or hollow plots?

Thought this and X were equally mediocre (not in a bad way), Pearl was bad, but the ending to this one makes the trilogy as a whole terrible to me. I also thought the mystery part was obvious. There’s details that gave it away to me as soon as a certain line way given maybe 20, 30min into the movie

Elliot Yeah just came outta watching MaXXXine such a letdown was expecting it to be on the same level entertaining spectacle was nowhere near it. Has a great premise subplots night stalker killers haunts the LA area after Maxine gets a big break. But when u see the Night stalker killer the decision making kills are insanely inhumane unhinged and drastically unrealistic. Probably my least favorite outta the Ti West films.

I agree. The first act was great the second act was ok and the third act was terrible.

Love the movie…ending did not work for me

The multiple plotlines were all over the place, unfocused and sometimes overstuffed. The finale was cringe af. This has been the biggest let down so far this year.

Naw I don’t think he had a vision of 3 films before X and it was supposed to be to be a one off but they forced to sequels based off of Mia Goths undeserved popularity and the cult success of X and mainstream success of pearl and tried to keep the hype train going but imo the whole thing is kind messy and unorganized and just seems inorganic and not a planned trilogy at all I don’t believe there ever was a vision starting from X just movie to movie for a payday

In my opinion everything this film was super overhyped and the whole “trilogy” felt rushed and not planned at all and I think X was suppose to be a one off but because it had some success they found ways in pearl which actually worked and tried with Maxxine to keep the hype train going and just ran out of steam
