Okay to start with you need to use 40 or 60-80 grit sand paper and sand the underneath of the top mounting, also sand up,the edge and around where the screws go. This is to provide a KEY for the SikaFlex to grab onto or it will not adhere correctly. After its screwed down then apply SikaFlex to the area around the screws. Important DO NOT move the 4 screw plates from there positions, this is because they need to stay there so the MaxxFan is pulled down onto the seal in the groove, you can either push down carefully from the top to align the holes to fit the screws or with the help of a second person remove the mesh screen underneath and get the person to carefully pull down on the crossbar on each side to pull the top assembly down to get the screws in. SikaFlex 221 is an excellent adhesive/sealant we started using it back in the 80s here in QUEENSLAND Australia building truck bodies and to repair leaks in truck body roofs that had been sealed with silicone a useless sealant. But as i said it needs a KEY which is provided by sanding the plastic as it has problems adhering to it to provide a 100% weatherproof seal. With metal sheets we eventually stopped using pop rivets and just used the Sikaflex to seal the joints.

I’ve replaced both Fantastic Fans in my rv twice in 4 years so I think this will be a logical choice. I’ve not researched this fan as of yet but from the looks of it I could use them while it’s actually raining. This is something that I couldn’t do with the Fantastic Fans. I do miss having them and it’s helpful to know these can be used in either intake or exhaust mode as I love setting one to intake and the other to exhaust to get a perfect flow of fresh air. Excellent video.

Thanks it was a very good video. Behaved stupidly and cracked the hatch. A new sunroof hatch is much cheaper but now I'm looking for one like this instead, it sits in the space for the toilet and shower so it might be good to have mechanical ventilation instead. Good you showed the dark mode add-on with light. There may be one like that too. Thanks that was really helpful.

Hi yet Another great video👍that's helped me make my mind up as to whitch fan I will be buying, thanks. I am also planning a van build which has been brought forward after life changes. I've been struggling to find a solar /battery smart charger. the Ctek & smart pass in one of your videos seems ideal, but that was five years ago. do you think it's still top of its game for AGM batteries or is there a new kid on the block?

Thank you, I had decided on the maxxfan for my SUV, and still haven't desided on which model, my budget won't allow all the bells and whistles as you have but the screen was something that here in CA, USA is important because they have replaced our wheat feilds with rice and mosquitoes are so thick, and I'm sensitive to their bite I guess it's like snake poison or maybe because they spray and mosquitoes carry it. Anyway I want both intake and exhust control, and wish I could find a way to control the speeds without paying $200 more, for the more than 4 speeds. I'm unable to install it myself but I'm looking for that solution, as my blood pressure is so low that I pass out in 90 degree temps, and I could only afford a dark blue/black SUV and I'm still having to address a wheelchair carrier, which on hot days I fear by the time the wheelchair is secured the SUV will be boiling.

@@plantstho6599 - Although I havent seen one yet, there's got to be a vent system that mounts to the floor. I'll be running tubes through the floor to mount a condenser coil underneath for my "Cruisencomfortusa" air conditioner. Seems like I should also mount some 4" exhaust tubes in the floor and have the actual fan inside the van space. Then my roof will be penetration free and low profile. Just a thought.

I have a12m bus and have 2 with an option when I converted to install a 3rd. Depends on roof space, cabling etc. I would go 1+ in anything 6m+ if a metal shell like a bus conversion. If you have good insulation then one per 9m vehicle length. They're made to move lots of air. Definitely wouldn't use them for showers/toilet vents - there much smaller cheaper units that do that job just fine. I have small 4" bathroom vents, one in the shower one in the toilet. The shower works off of a heat sensor stuck to the mixer and the toilet on the light switch. bother timed to auto turn off.

This is a UK product and company? I love it when Brits finally get serious about something and do it "properly". This is British engineering at its best. It's not all tea and crumpets over there and the Brits are forgotten founders of concepts that are taken-for-granted baseline standards of the Western world. And it all started with their defiant desire to do it "properly". Cheers ya bastards. 😘

The way it fixes to the roof is awful. It's similar to Fiamma skylights - screwed & from above. First of all screwing is not necessary (Remis & Heki don't) and from above is just asking for trouble. A far better way are the ones that clamp on from below. That way everything is hidden from the weather. There are no screw holes to leak or mess up the edge for the next time you replace it with a different type of skylight. Can you get that blind in a solid material? I'd want to block out all light.

Our MaxxFan stopped working within a few months and MaxxAir has not been helpful at all in resolving the issue. It requires a disconnect to reset it and that's frankly far too much work. So, it's back to a Fantastic Fan for us. I will probably miss how quiet the MaxxAir was, but their customer service and build quality just isn't cutting it.

Order a new circuit board. My guess is it's faulty. Remove the underneath panel - 4 screws + the lid opener. Unplug wires (2 plugs - one on the board itself, a temp sensor, the other an extension from the board goes to the motor)and cut the two feed wires (will require a rejoin with the new board) remove the circuit board (3 screws). Replace the panel until the new board arrives. I blew mine a while ago - voltage reg failed and pushed 50+ volts through 12v (actually 5v) board. No big deal. I've had mine 5 years (two units) and they beat anything else on the market hands down. The only con as with all things that spin is the occasional fan tip whine at certain speeds when on auto.
