Anahata means "infinite sound" or "unaffected", precisely because the heart is a pure place where evil does not exist.
The heart chakra is the central chakra. It unites the higher and more spiritual chakras with the lower and more material ones. It is the chakra that mediates between the body and the mind.
The fourth chakra is closely related to the lungs and breathing.
This chakra teaches us how to act with love and compassion and recognize that the most powerful energy we have is love. Its energy teaches us to open ourselves to others with love, compassion and acceptance.
When it is in balance we are capable of loving unconditionally, we love without expecting anything in return, showing ourselves generous to others, caring and kind-hearted. But we are not dependent on others and we also manage to love ourselves and our lives. The energies of our heart can transform the world by reawakening trust and joy in us and in others. Our feelings are free from doubts and uncertainties.
The imbalance of this chakra on the physical level manifests itself with heart problems, asthma and respiratory problems, pain and weakness in the upper back.
On an emotional and mental level we tend to be overwhelmed by pain, anger, jealousy, fear of betrayal and hatred towards ourselves and others, or we feel powerful and strong, to the point of not being able to accept love from others. We are closed and are unable to receive or, on the contrary, we easily become vulnerable and dependent on the love of others.

The practice of Yoga, meditation and compassion are fundamental to rebalancing this chakra. Learning to accept ourselves, love ourselves and be loved, feel loved. The asanas that help to reopen the fourth chakra are all those where the chest is the protagonist, such as Anahatasana or Dhanurasana, and all the breathing techniques, such as Pranayama.
