The permanent currency loss isn't the game's equivalent of souls. The stuff they steal is a special currency that's more akin to humanity but doesn't really have an equivalent to anything in Dark Souls.

That vtuber is Suzuhara Lulu. She retired back in June 2021 cause she was being stalked essentially. She really liked the soulsbourne games and it was a long running joke that she was a eldritch god.

So the thing about the Moon God is that...thats actually it's motivation for killing Mergo. It just wanted it dead for fun. We literally murdered a baby so an outer God could giggle at it like a shitty meme compilation.

Which is why in the true ending where you consume the umbilical cords the moon presence comes down to fight you because you are the verge of being born a new God and so it comes down to fight you in order to keep you from ascending, once you kill the moon presence and absorb its blood the transformation is complete and you become a new God
