I don't believe he'd go to Mercedes, they're on a downward trend and unless they improve quick, I don't see him going there to struggle till 2026.

The big teams have got so much left over cash after the budget cap now. Mercedes made €100m+ profit last year. All have top notch facilities, so not a lot of capex to spend there. Therefore they might as well yolo all the money on the 'top 3' salaries, that are outside of budget cap.

I think Newey wants a future in Ferrari but not only designer of Formula 1 cars, much more then that he wants to design Ferrari's new generation commercial cars too. So I belive one day Newey will join Ferrari its inevitable. Question is when?

I wont route for Mercedes no matter who they have driving for them, I would just go Ferrari, my love affair with the sport is young enough that i can still make a switch, I chose RBR cause they were underdogs when i started watching F1. They were trying to get their first constructors over Merc at the time. Loving Max was an easy fit for a new fan. Seriously Im probably just going to follow Newey if he goes to Ferrari. I have a not-so-secret affection for Lando and Oscar as well, just not big on Zack Brown..

While for znewey, both Aston and Ferrari are fascinating. Both are car manufacturer. However, a car designed by Newey at Maranello will be his masterpiece. Not only the F1 car, but the Ferrari car. Anyone that has money will buy it.
