Max's Dominance feat. Dale Jr.

On this latest episode of Drive To Wynn, host Justin Bell welcomes Dale Earnhardt Jr., NASCAR Hall of Fame Driver, to the show. Justin recaps the Japanese GP, where Max Verstappen rebounded from a DNF to sweep the events at Suzuka. How exactly has Ferrari distanced themselves from the rest of the pack in closing ground on the Red Bulls? Justin also gives his take on Yuki Tsunoda's points finish at his home track, Danny Ricciardo's terrible start to the season and Mercedes' sudden complacency to fall behind the McLarens.
Dale Jr. comments on Verstappen's current run of 20 victories in 22 races, and urges Formula 1 fans to appreciate the greatness we are witnessing. Why don't race fans embrace greatness like they have in past decades? He draws several parallels between the worlds of NASCAR & F1, and thinks commitments to evolving technology will only continue to grow the popularity of both sports. Plus, we get some candid answers to our Mobil1 Pit Stop feature to close out the conversation!

The gap was so small? haha Did you not see Max get the fastest lap in almost the last lap? He was just controling the race.

Exactly - I think I tried to say that - in my opinion he could just clear off by minutes if he chose to! But the one lap pace is definitely closer. A bit.

Indeed, the gap was gigantic if Max wanted it to be. He set the fastest lap with old hard tires. Easy. No one is even close to Max. From another planet.

Max has been saving tyres and was going easy on the engine all race. I watch and listen his onboard and all race he was managing. Lifting in turn 11 or 14 to save the tyres and most of the race he did not use 8th gear. GP told him to use it a few times but most he was cruising.

The gap of the qualifying lap was so small because Max’s lap wasn’t great as he admitted later. But then again Checo also made small mistakes. We’ll see next race.

First time watching your KZread channel.. Clearly I don't have to add more about the 'small gap'..that's already been covered very well in the comments. I do disagree with Sainz 'outclassing' LeClerc on the tires though.. LeClerc managed his tires so well, that he could race on a 1'stop strategy, which everyone thought was impossible to do. By succeeding thàt strategy..I ask you..Doesn't that show how well LeClerc managed his tires compaired to Sainz..or anyone else, for that matter??? 🤔🤔 Don't get me wrong..I do think Carlos has been underrated for so long now, but to me, pulling of a 1'stopper does tell me LeClerc managed his tires way better than..... everyone else, I suppose. 🤭 I did subscribe to your channel though. Looking forward to your next video's!😉 Greetings from The Netherlands! 😉🏎🏁❤️

Talking about Mercedes making eventual progress is utter nonsense imo. They are completely clueless about everything around their car and it has been the way for 3 years now, you can't improve and establish something in that situation, especially considering the context. As for Alonso, he is exaggerating as always, yes he's dragging the team alone, but the car is decent and has arguably a better sweet spot than the Merc under certain circumstances.

After 5 seasons in F1, Russell has proved that he is not good enough to race in F1as he is not a team player & always cracks under pressure. Russell has generated more F1 car repairs for the Mercedes team than young Mick Schumacher generated while at Haas. If Schumacher got the chance to race in the same car as Russell, Schumacher would easily beat Russell.

Us long time max fans had to sit through years of Mercedes champs. Those were years where Red Bull won or placed occasionally. Yea we grumbled a little but behind Mercedes' the racing was good. I’m beginning to think Alonso was right. He was asked once why Max gets so much stick. His response was He’s not British. I’m happy Carlos is having his best season now. He’s fun to watch when he’s on the boil. Merc needs to fix their car. Until they do it’s going to be a heart wrenching.

This is an excellent podcast for Formula One. Keep up the good work in spite of the ar23h013s in the comments section. That's just the internet. Take the good with the bad. I have to disagree with 15:23 . Not against Lance Stroll. Formula One fans like to gas up how good Formula one drivers are compared to other series. ( I like this new saying, 'gas up'). That is not necessarily so. I remember Felipe Massa went to Formula E. He signed a three year contract with Venturi. The team broke the contract after two seasons. Despite getting one podium, he was generally lacklustre. Antonio Giovinazzi also went straight out of Formula One to Formula E and was a complete backmarker, despite regularly out qualifying Kimi Raikkonen in F1 in 2021. Also, in Saudi Arabia, Oliver Bearman was promoted from Formula 2 mid-weekend. We know what happened. What's more, his long run pace was almost identical to Charles Leclerc, and those drivers around him. With so little flow of drivers out of other series and into top teams in modern day F1, it's very hard to judge the level. But I would suggest Max Verstappen would be competitive in many different racing series.
