I’m sick and this kind of sucks but I’ve been wanting to make this for a long time so I finally stopped messing around and just made it.
I wanted to make something to encapsulate all the Max and Liz angst!
I feel like most of the fandom really ignores or excuses all of Max’s toxic behavior and I’ve choose not to in this video. Liz is such a kind, understanding and forgiving person so this cycle continues until he finally pushes her too far and she snaps. Which are my favorite moments. Liz is such an amazing character and I feel that isn’t talked about enough. At the end of season 2, Liz is at her best, and Max is at his worst.
Liz can never fully give up on Max, mostly because she loves him, but also because he saved her life and risked everything to do so. She can’t turn her back on him because of that and because of the world he brought her into. Her relationship with her parents, Alex, and even occasionally Maria are tested because of the loyalty she has for him. And in the end, she gave up dream of going to Harvard and becoming a molecular biologist, her parents and home, for him.
AS MUCH AS I LOVE THEM, and Max and Liz may be true love, their story isn’t a fairytale. They go through so much to be together, it’s not perfect, but it was worth it!

max and liz are true love because i don't think at any point of the series you feel that at breaking point situations they wouldn't choose each other. nonetheless, season 2 is trouble (max's king complex cough) and it's great that after all this time there's still new approaches to them. good brave job

@theironist Thank you for the compliment and for sharing your opinion! I agree 100%. I have to admit I was a little afraid to post this knowing how much fans love Max! (I do too but can also see his flaws.) Like you said, as the audience we never stop believing these two are meant to be together for an instant. no matter how they may hurt each other and that’s what’s so beautiful about Max and Liz! But all the same Max (ESPECIALLY in season 2) is FAR from perfect. so much of that stems from him being hurt from thinking Liz slept with Kyle. Liz goes through the wringer with him and has her moments where she can’t take it anymore like in the desert in season 3. I think we’ve become so accustomed to this extreme “ride or die” mentality in fiction that irl would be unhealthy. I always appreciated the times Roswell did the opposite! Like Liz’s “I love you but I don’t want to die for you” speech (we usually see the opposite statements!) or when Maria breaks up with Micheal because she doesn’t want to give up her aspirations for the alien craziness. Those are two of the saddest scenes for me to watch but I really appreciate their realness and how the girls look out for themselves! I’ve made more classically romantic videos about these two but I really wanted to show a different angle. I wrote more in the description. Wow, their relationship changed so much, from sweet cute innocent to this angsty painful roller coaster. Im still angry that Liz was forced to break it off, because in other reality they would be happy just as happy as in beginning, without Tess and all the other crap. After that night with Kyle, everything changed betweem them but they always find their way, to each other. I guess it seems more real, more raw with this plottwist. And the song fit soooo good. 😍
