Bunsen and Beaker fixed him...temporarily.

I guess they cut out the stuttering, laughing, and shifts in vocal pitch because they thought it would frighten the children.

MUCH better, IMO.

Matt Frewer is Canadian, and so you notice the vast effort of lip-stretching to say "zee". The non-American world all say "zed". He was having his little joke with us.

I actually saw Matt Frewer (Max Headroom) in August 2014 on the Expo Skytrain line from Vancouver to Surrey; he was in a lot of shows about 20=15 years ago in Vancouver, like the Chris Haddock show "Intelligence" where he played Ted Altman a.k.a. "The Slimy Bastard"; the director of Vancouver's Organized Crime Unit. He's a completely underrated actor. He was also the lead in the TV sitcom Doctor Doctor.

Oh wow, I'd never seen that one before, but then I had kinda stopped watching Sesame Street some years before this.

The Max Headroom character was actually actor Matt Frewer in latex prosthetics, it wasn't animated.

@Kyraji I am saying that every other English-speaking country but the United States calls the last letter "zed": Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Caribbean countries, all the areas of the former British Empire. Matt Frewer is Canadian, so at that point his little hesitation is an inside joke.

@banq0o Sesame Street was a childrens fun educational program that taught very young children how to say certain words in English & Spanish plus knowing Numbers, with the help of adult guests and puppets plus animation.

@Stroddler So just because American English is based off an older version of the language and developed differently from how British people speak and spell it, you're calling it butchered? How about Australians and their English? I consider it just as much the English language as British or Australian English, and British/Australian English just as much the English language as American English. It's not like the language became like Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese.
