Yeah I think part of why he was so bummed about his own music is because they tried so hard to get heavy but just couldn't. It wouldnt work. Songs like "Aneurysm" were attempts to get heavier but Kurt just didn't have that kind of voice. He'd scream his head off but it wasn't a metal voice like Phil Anselmo or something. He was frustrated because nirvana was pigeon holed to be the band they were, due to his limited capabilities, as all musicians are. Kurt would lash out at more dynamic bands because he got jealous of them. A notable case was when he was hating on tool, because he never wrote the complex masterpieces he wished he couldve. Its one reason he talked about leaving nirvana often to try to find something with more substance.

I lived in Mesa, AZ from 1994 to 1999 and one time I saw Max and his wife Gloria hanging out a metal show at the Nile Theater (a popular punk and metal club a few blocks from my apartment) in 1995 or '96 - forgot which bands were playing. I didn't try to talk to him though - I was too shy and I didn't want to bother him.

Quando o Nirvana foi ao Brasil, Dave reconheceu o João e ficou amigo de Cobain e Courtney... João levou eles pra um rolè, curtira a noite de SP. Dave era fan do Sepultura, queria fazer uma turne com Nirvana, Dead Kennedys e Sepultura, as Kurt morreu antes. Dave Ghrol assinou o prefácio da Biografia do Max

@@TheBogcast The first show I saw there was Korn with Deftones opening in late 1994 or early 1995, then I saw Korn there again a few months later. Also, Clutch, Toadies, Manhole and Snot, and Morbid Angel. I don't like death metal - I went to see Grip Inc who were opening for Morbid Angel because I'm a big Dave Lombardo fan, but they cancelled and The Nile wouldn't refund my ticket. I know I saw some other bands there as well, but can't remember them all.
