Libertarianism doesn't transcend left and right. It's a species of conservatism. RFK is a good example. He portrays himself as a third party, but his libertarianism is a sort of radical individualism that is ultimately a-political. That's what libertarianism is, a-political. It appears to transcend politics as if politics can be transcended. That was the fantasy of anarchism, which was always stuck in a social unreality. I like Judge's show but his libertarianism is a fantasy world of radical individualists who buy gold in case political society collapses.

According to Avi, the Jews lived peacefully with Muslims and Christian’s in Iraq for 2500 years, until the Zionists threw a monkey wrench into the works. Professor Shlaim now lives in England and teaches at Exeter University. He is also a former Zionist, and has a very compelling story to tell, which will add great dimension to the Israel/Palestine narrative. The third individual you should invite on, is Miko Peled, former Zionist, former member of IDF, and now a staunch activist and advocate for the civilians of Palestine. He is one of many former IDF members advocating for an end to the genocide, and for Palestinian rights! His story will definitely interest you and your ever increasing audience. I have listened to all three at length, and really hadn’t views, understanding of and perspectives about Israel, Zionism and Palestine, forever altered. I hope you can get them to come on some future podcasts, they can all provide Information that few in the world are aware of. I was a hardcore leftist for 20+ years, left the left 10 years ago, normally align with the right on most issues (domestic culture war issues) but stand firmly with Palestinians & the left on this issue (and have been *disgusted* with the right’s hypocrisy since Oct. 😤). I refused to be confined within the limitation of that the left is understood in the U.S., because there is no LEFT here (at least not represented by a party), but that doesn’t mean that I am not aligned with leftist values. I am a leftist because I stand with those who are at the bottom of the barrel and those whose voices are silenced.

@@letyymachadoexactly! I’m from Eastern Europe and what I see in the us is two EXTREME right wing parties. Americans have been ruled by bourgeoisie since their inception, so obviously history, narrative and going as far as word definitions have been written by those holding the capital. To be called left, you have to be about economic issues most and foremost, NOT the cultural ones, it’s the bourgeoisie that are all on culture wars to divert attention away from elites looting the working class. Pointing fingers at everyone, making an enemy out of anyone, just to leave the capitalists free to do what they want. THIS is the capitalism. It’s finally coming home. Everything the rest of the world has suffered from, while at least half of American citizens was being bought off (most of which didn’t even realize that they’d been pacified with uncontrollable consumerism), so the system was safe and sound. All this rabid anti communism, destroying the legitimacy of the socialist movements by calling liberal wing of, let’s call it what it is- f*scists, “the left”. It worked, because even now Americans cannot come up with the right conclusions, that are necessary to bring change. They’re still being played like children, but at the same time they’ve still have that illusion of being somehow “better”, “wiser” and “smarter” than the rest of the world. Couldn’t be further from the truth. The rest of the world was not kept cosy in their cocoon of safety and have dealt with realities of this world in order to survive. The majority of the world had to work hard for necessities, while Americans have been given all that on a silver platter. I don’t mean that every citizen was benefiting from American imperialism, quite the opposite, but the most influential among masses middle class has been and they have been guarding this system as well as spreading the American dream propaganda and it is what is maintaining facades of US superiority. Greed of the capital and the consequences of such are visible to anyone outside of the states (who follows geopolitics, there are people who don’t really dig and are fed western propaganda, buy it and leave their homelands in search of something that simply doesn’t exist, it’s not a matter of education level, but intelligence, ability to think for themselves, thats why surprisingly most of them are people after doctor studies, law studies, who fall for this trap of feeling superiority, that just because they had access to specific scientific knowledge, it makes them automatically understand political games), to those Americans, who have been privileged to travel abroad and more and more often to an every single working class person, who can’t get a job at all, they don’t necessarily still notice their cities are backwards, infrastructure is falling apart, but they definitely see being replaced by high-skilled foreigners, which allows the capitalists to also lower the wages all over the country (just because they’re sucking wealth out of the rest of the world, for those workers it’s still going to be an upgrade, while for the entire United States apart from the elite capitalists, it’s going to be a major set back. And it is) as well as safety levels, various regulations, including those affecting physical well being, health of all citizens. That leaves the rest of the world brain drained and the very bottoms of this pyramid, this house of cards, are not able to carry everything on their shoulders any longer, there are more and More conflicts and that’s what comes always with accumulation of wealth, colonial policies and practices are coming home. No one is pretending anymore. Americans need to learn about class consciousness. There’s a point when there’s only you vs. them, no ideological crap, just oligarchy vs you. People need to understand that all it is, it’s Neo f*udalism. When politicians speak about “nations”, they play to our natural need of belonging to a certain group, our natural need to protect ourselves and our interests as a collective but.. they aint talking about us. Notice that in the past, when the nobility spoke about “Italians”, “French”, “Brits”, they meant the owner class, not peasants. Peasants had no nationality, peasants were considered too dumb to get a good grip on the idea of nationality. The rise of national awareness in many places didn’t appear until mid or late XIX century. Thats why now we can see THE SAME mentality play out, as “constitution for me not for thee”, “free speech for me but not for thee”. We can clearly see it’s also among them, because the level of fairness depends upon the amount of capital they own. The most powerful people in 99% come from families looting wealth for way over 400 years, slave owners, pirates. Just with every decade there’s a wealth transfer, making the number of elites smaller and smaller. It’s like that game where you’ve chairs, music plays, someone takes away chair every new round and people fight like animals to be able to seat as soon as the music stops playing. If you look at history, what happened in Eastern Europe before WWII, during, what was suppos to have happened to us and what did indeed happened - the elites driving our countries into the abyss were simply stripped off their power and influence in our region (becoming toilet cleaners in the west, some of them were recruited by intelligence agencies to stir up problems and to attempt overthrowing of socialism), replaced with people from the masses (most of the time), aware of our realities, being a politician was not a job in itself, you had to work, then for a tiny bonus you sacrificed your free time to work for the good of the collective (yeah, the people who left and shitted on us, on socialism and how authoritarian it was, were the people who couldn’t come to terms with losing privileges they didn’t deserve in the first place. Democratic meant “legalized corruption and exploitation” for them. Oh and “indefinite consumption”). If not for that time period, we would’ve never rebuilt. I need you all to understand, the city I was born in, Warsaw, in 1944 was bombed to the Stone Age by Germans. Look at the pictures of Warsaw 1930’s and then 1944. Even tho Poland had been already impoverished at that time, what happened in 1944, it left only 2% of the entire city in tact. Imagine how long would something like this take now? Even with technology? Look at Warsaw in, let’s say, 1955? It was a miracle. My grandma was given a flat, had a very relaxed, hard working but relaxed life. She was the first generation (she was born in the early 1940) that was given free vacation, vacation in the hotel built for her specific work sector (each one had its own hotels in various parts of the world), for free, most of Poles saw the Baltic Sea for the very first time in their life, EVEN THO Slavs, including Poles, a group in wider category of north west/northern Slavs, had access to the Baltic Sea for well over ONE THOUSAND YEAR. In fact it’s been few thousand years, right after Slavs came to Europe and decided to split in order to discover new lands. We never had slaves, nor accepted the “western ways”, that’s why a lot of us, like our western brothers- Słowianie Połabscy (it’s them who Founded settlements known today as Hamburg, Lübeck, Berlin) who were simply g*nocided by Germanic people, either by sl*ughter or by forcible germanification. There’s a lot of Germans not realizing they’re germanized Slavs or coming from such. It is a key point, we have been attacked by western aggression and greed for hundreds and hundreds of years, it’s not new at all and people seem to wake up now. It’s used to be call “crusades” but in fact most of those were committed on lands already christianized. Look up Grunwald 1410, 15th of July. Battle of Grunwald. It was the collective west against collective Slavic nations (with tatars help, Kazakh and Caucasian help) It’s been the same forces for centuries guys. Things are changing to slowly, and we as humans, as a collective should’ve already started building sh*t on other planets! All of this.. because of greed of a handful. It will lead us nowhere, to poverty and backwardness at best. At worst, we will be another huge civilization that was sacrificed for.. some Larry Finks, Bill Gates’ and richer of them, so rich we are not even supposed to know their first names.

Yes, it's comparable but the differences are very important: much bigger country, lots of room for dissidents to develop ideas, hang out, speak out, hide out when needed - great honking big diverse country. 200 year tradition of revolution and of fights for constitutional rights, workers rights, civil rights, human rights, knockdown drag-outs all of them, fight for the New Deal and more. Germany didn't have that history. How do you think we get a Max Blumenthal? He, too, is a product of all that we are, our best part.
