Great review lady! I'm a guy, I typically don't iron, or at least I havent touched an iron in like 20 years. I now find myself needing to iron and since I'm about 99% clueless about anything related to ironing but I do have a good bit of common sense, the review you made of this particular ironing station is exactly the type of information I needed to see if a product like this one would fit my needs and it appears that it really does. Thanks for this informative video!

So, I will be purchasing directly with the company!! Still, many thanks for your great review! Happy 2022!!

I have A reliable iron. Not this fancy steam iron but one of their regular types… You can override the shut off on mine which I do do occasionally, but I find that having the shut off is a safer situation for me since I’m continually leaving my sewing room getting caught up in other things and going to bed, having never actually turned off my iron 🥴 Loved your review 🤗

@@TodayinJensSewingRoom , yes I do like the Chi very much. It gets all the wrinkles the first time, with a huge amount of steam. I have used it now for a whole year and no problems. No leaks, even. It’s a good iron for the money. Just to compare irons, I bought a Rowenta for the house and I wish I hadn’t. That iron is not a very good iron, I don’t like to spend a lot of time ironing. I’ll probably give that iron to Goodwill and let someone else try to iron with it.

I like that you gave a little background on the company. I myself prefer not having auto-shut off, but of course the drawback to that is forgetting to shut it off. So, I use wifi smart plugs, so if I leave the house and realize I forgot to switch the iron off, I can turn off the plug from my app! This iron seems great because of the water reservoir. Reliable has a great reputation in the professional world, and I would probably choose a Reliable over a Rowenta. I'm interested in Reliable's boiler irons, but those are professional and pricey! Overall, great review, Jen!

Hey Jen - good review! Do you think the cord feels short as compared to a traditional iron? You know when you iron something large like the entire cut of a fabric and you have to sort of finesse the fabric and the iron because the fabric is bigger than the iron board? Sometimes I feel like the cord I currently have is hard enough, that one looks kind of short. I prewash all my of fabric as soon as I get it and often it needs to be ironed, so that would be tough if the Mavens cord is shorter than my regular iron. Now it might be great if the tube was hanging from a hook like some people do it, and you could lay it down on the bases that was close to the ironing board, (I like that idea actually). Thanks for sharing, I need a new iron. I bought one that I hate so I may try this one.

Hey! No, the "hose" cord is pretty long. And the cord from the base to the wall is probably 6 feet, so plenty there as well. I didn't measure though, so if that's important you should check the specs. I do like this iron - I just need to 1-get that cord up better and 2-put something next to the board that will fit right under it, to put the base on. That way I can use that metal rest that's attached to my board. Until then, it works fine. I'm always trying to improve the efficiency of the space . . .

Hey Margie! I haven't checked Reliable to see about the iron stand or cord situation, bu they do make ironing boards so I would imagine they have a solution. But I have that pegboard right behind my ironing board so I think that will provide an easy solution.

Even though the shut off feature of most irons is so annoying, it is good feature. A store that I once worked at as the alterations assistant burned down because someone didn't turn the iron off. I was so glad I didn't work there when it happened. Do you find this iron heavy.? I have a similar type of iron I bought at a clearance centre and no longer use it because it's heavy and also there is no way to see how much water is in the tank.

Hey Jennett! When I was looking for the graphic on that comment I made about burning my house down, I was really sobered by the fact that it isn't funny when that happens. It's truly tragic. Even though it is annoying when you're sewing, the benefits of that auto-off feature far outweigh the minor irritations in the end. The iron itself is fairly light, compared to other traditional irons I've used in the past. Probably because all the water and workings are in the base rather than the iron itself. It's heavy enough for pressing, though, which is nice.

Was there anything that you had to do first to get it to steam? I just purchased this iron and wonder if I'm not doing something correct with it to get steam.

You just have to give it a few minutes for the water to get through the line and for it to heat up. I rushed thru this process - but if you give it time, you should be able to just put it down on a pressing cloth or piece of random fabric and press the steam trigger and it will start steaming. Try that - hope it helps! The instructions also give you some good direction -

I just purchased this unit and for the life of me I can’t get it to produce steam. I expect to see steam come out of the holes like my Rowenta did. Am I correct in this assumption? I contacted the manufacturer and have had no response.

Mine produces great steam but I have to lift it up to get that true shot of steam. When I first turned it on, it took a little bit of time (like maybe 10 minutes) for the water to get into the hose and down to the iron; it tends to click if the steam isn't ready yet. But once the water was into the iron, it's been steaming ever since. Hopefully the company will be able to help you. I had a great experience with them.

Bonjour Jenn, merci for the review of this iron, Rowenta do leak after a certain time (specially if you drop it a few time) lol, so mine leaks if I over fill it now. But at the price I paid I refused to get another one until it dies! I consider getting a tank one this but I move around the house with my ironing board! LOL!!! I agree with you that cord would be difficult for me to get used to it! Christine 🇨🇦

Bonjour mon amie! Gah, other people drop irons too? What a relief to know I'm not the only one! 😂 I've had 3 Rowentas and every single one of them leaked. The last one was from a thrift store, though, to be fair. I think it leaked for someone else and kept leaking for me - at least it was consistent! I have some ideas about how to wrangle the cord on this one but haven't thought about it enough or been bugged by it enough to set something up. I don't have an IV pole or anything like that, but I do have that pegboard right behind my ironing board. So I'm sure I could put a hook there and keep it corralled that way. What I really need is a table or something that I can put in the corner that would hold the base, and then I could put the iron itself onto the metal holder at the end of the board rather than putting the entire base there. I'll fix it when it gets to be more of a problem . . .
