It actually has. These segments helped drag queens come more to the forefront and make it so society as a whole knew it existed. They also helped trans people come out, made that more public and less stigmatized. And, he was very respectful all of them. This was the 90s and Maury treated the queens/men better than Steve Harvey did a few weeks ago on Family Feud. It's aged just fine.

I prefer this to Miss Universe anytime!!

As a trans woman I lived for this. I was mesmerized looking at these gorgeous trans women giving me a glimmer of hope. And I’m still not offended by this.

I loved Maury in the late 90s. My shows to watch after school were, Ricki Lake, Jerry Springer and Maury. They don't make daytime television like this anymore.

some of these are drag women so it's not offense to "play the game". however for the women who are transgender in this, you flawless. And honestly as much as I hate the language both maury and certain audience members are using, the audience is being nice and appalling to these women, it's not as awful as it could be for the times. and some audience members saying "I don't know if it's a man or a women" with a very and I really don't care attitude, which is how it should be, I hate this 2016 "Let's hate on transgender people" whereas most in this audience are very fine with the indistinguishable outlook Maury calls them beauties, I mean, it's got its problems but it's almost nicer than some transphobic people act nowadays.

I think the beauties thing might have been slightly sarcastic? I don't know. I think back then most people simply didn't know what transgender meant so they had no reason to be offended and could just call them man without being called out for it. These days, even if you don't understand transgenders, the least you can do after discovering a woman is trans is call her she, if you don't you're just going out of your way to be an asshole.

Honestly you can't really tell nowadays. Edit: I actually guessed right! The tell for me is usually that the men try too hard to look feminine in terms of make-up and the walk they go extra. The walk is often a little exaggerated. Real women don't do those things. The femininity is usually understated on actual women. Another tell for me is usually the jaw line. The only one I was uncertain about was the little Asian one Marie. But I somehow had a feeling she might be a woman because if it really was a man he'd probably try to hide the biceps to appear more feminine.
