The moss in question is some selaginella-species. Usually terrestrial, sometimes referred to as "moss-fern" (but it is it's own thing, from a botanical perspective). Lots of terrestrial or epiphytic/litophytic species, like Selaginella uncinata, are used and widely available in the terrarium-trade.

A tip we use for mosquitos I don't know if you have Vick Vapo rub where you are from but rubbing that on your exposed parts like neck arms legs etc a mozzie cant stand the smell or taste of your skin and you will perfectly fine. We use that when we go fish at night. Amazing shrimp finds

The plants you saw on the side of the creek are called elephant ear plants. The roots are edible. Just pull out the plant and then smash up the roots and they make the food called taro from it. Not a strong flavored food though.

Excellent video. I don't really care for shrimp or aquascaping, but I love traveling the world and catching as many different fish species as I can. Mauritius has been on my list of places to visit for a few years now. Would love to fish those creeks and catch that sleeper and eel. It's too bad about all those guppys and swordtails. It's a shame so many places around the world have so many non-native species around.
