Season 2 was an absolute masterpiece, that Christmas seven fishes episode HAS to be one of the greatest hours of TV I’ve ever watched on my 30+ years of life. I mean I felt the tension,I felt the relationships, the chaos, the fact that they were family, the little intricacies of their relationships, the size of the room for them to give us one hour of nonstop, familial madness… pure class

Totally agree, some episodes in season 2 were absolute masterpieces in filmmaking and acting.

That episode might as well have fallen into the suspense genre because holy fuck the buildup was so palpable.

I can’t with that episode… it’s still haunted me up to this day… it’s on the level of Toni Colette’s meltdown in Hereditary

Yeah as great as that episode is, they followed it up with another classic in Forks the very next one.

It was so hard to watch. But there's no way you can take your eyes off.
Just watched The Bear, Season 1, with my wife and mother in law. It was so good that we binged it again. What amazing writing and acting!
“Come on Richie! You can do this!” Me watching Forks like my team is in the finals
I've been a fan of Matty for years now. But he truly surprised me with his performance in The Bear. Can't wait for the 3rd season!
for me this is what happens when really passionate people love to do what they do. The result is beautiful and raw and it shows in the result
Before this interview I didn’t watch a single episode of The Bear. However, this interview made me get a Hulu free trial just so I could watch both seasons! Nice work guys

Me too 😃😄
The Bear is the best show out there right now , and it's very realistic to Chicago people and those in the restaurant business. I am a lifelong Chicagoan & Season 2 is a whole other level. S2 E6 ... scary how real it was me as an ACOA....funny when it needs to be but respectful. I was one of the lucky travel agents who helped book air & hotel for cast/ production... everyone was so nice!

The Bear is a GREAT SHOW. I have watched season 2, 3 times! The season 2 finale is where Matty shines.
Matty is absolutely right, the most difficult thing to represent to folks is just how stressful the environment is in a kitchen
Yes! It's so good to see Matty on the show. Love this guy. And he is a Bills fan - go Bills!
It’s one of the more realistic dramas about a restaurant to come along. Absolutely brilliant show

Um…. Ok. Not sure you’re watching the same show I am. It’s totally about a restaurant and the family behind it.

@@justGSquared what I mean is it’s really about existential crisis and mental health. The restaurant is the medium they use in the story. I do get what you mean. It probably does show the craziness of the restaurant world really well. But to me it’s so much more than that

Totally disagree. The restaurant part is a big component of the DNA of this show. It is not just the setting and background, it is a very developed part of its identity and pays enormous respect to the people in the industry at large while also being VERY Chicago specific.

Tv writers know how to research something. Do you think only cops write cop shows and only doctors write doctor shows? Come on. It’s a real profession and good writers make it happen. Of course, real cooks can provide important details and info but writing a tv show, play or film is an art just like being a restaurateur. Absolutely tremendous show.

Sure, but do you think this show would be half as realistic as it is without Matty's and other cooks' input? I think not. There's a reason why this is one of the very few shows/movies that actually gets to the heart of being a cook. I'd say the quality of this show depends on both the writers and the chef consultants equally
If you ever want a stressful life and no pay go work at your local restaurant not front house BOH is the insane shit show, this show was the perfect representation of what the kitchen is like
I know people gave Jamie Lee Curtis s*** for winning an oscar for a movie she was barely in and getting nepotism thrown her way…BUT…her performance in the bear episode was just incredible
One of the most random crossovers on the DLS
It’s incredible, but not at all surprising, that Samson lives his life believing the absolute worst in people basically purely out of fear. Unless the restaurant states it clearly beforehand that you need to arrive on time due to timing of their seatings, why would a quality staff at a restaurant take it out on their customers who shows up reasonably late through no fault of their own? Is Samson dining at Applebee’s staffed by teenagers? Also Matty was always great on Munchies and his IG feed is dope.

His nightmare is the movie Waiting.
There was a show earlier this year or last year where Cody mocked Whitingham about liking the bear..it’s a great show
I really liked the bear just because its the first tv show ive watched in a while that isnt some souless cash grab based on others IP. Its fresh and it has real people conveying actual emotions. This and reservation dogs helped clense my pallete after years of being bombarded with junk disney made content. I can seriously go several decades without seeing another star wars or marvel anything. Disney really needs to just give the folks at FX a pile of cash and let them just create without interference.
Love you Samson - but he just does not have the charisma needed to hold the pilot seat. He is best suited working alone, like Colin Cowherd did. To his credit, he has tried hard but doesn't have the persona or interview skills. He is just too technical and buttoned up and his brand of humor doesn't work with a large group and the type of show they want to put on. Knowledgeable hands down and amazingly honest and vulnerable which the show values but not the #1 chair. The movie segments with Adnan work great, along with his business pod with Skipper but only because with Adnan he plays the straight guy, just as Dan uses him. With Skipper it's just cold business straight talk so that works fine. But Nothing Personal is where his value lies- - directly talking to his audience.
What the hell is David’s problem? Dude is ALWAYS SO DAMN NEGATIVE!!!
Calling Matty "not a TV person" is either supremely dumb or you didn't do your research. He's been on TV for years. Not acting, but still pretty intimately understanding the production process. Also, calmed down Matty is weird. Where is the yelling???
I loved season 2 as a whole, but wasn't impressed with the final episode. It was paced poorly and had weird coincidences that seemed out of place. I was happy for Richie to take some control, but Carmen's decision to stay miserable instead of experiencing any kind of happiness with Claire is so fast of an unraveling that it isn't realistic. Seemed like a cheap ploy to just create the immediate drama for a potential season 3. Fishes and Forks were the highlights of the the season.
