Drove back to Massachusetts yesterday from beautiful PEI and the Fibre Festival. Canada -- its people, food, scenery, and if course fibre, is amazing. Great classes and yarn at the festival. Highlight was meeting all three of the Fleece and Harmony stars. I was so excited that I told Betsy, "I'm the whole reason you're here," instead of "You (Fleece and Harmony podcast) are the whole reason I'm here."
It is so helpful for you all to problem solve on camera, giving advice for these difficult issues that come up in knitting. Very helpful for me, and many more of us I'm sure, to learn from. Thank you! Wish I could attend the festival.
Try knitting from the inside so the floats are on the outside of your work and naturally have to travel longer
Kim, your Marie Wallen tam is beautiful! Betsy's scarf is awesome and of course Simone has done a great job on her sweater. I wish you all great success at the yarn festival. I can't wait to hear about it.
Really felt for Betsy with her Cowl experience!
Wishing you all the best at the Fibre Festival. Enjoy yourself and soak in the results of all your hard work.
Wonderful podcast, thank you. Looking forward to seeing you at the festival!
Thank you for the lovely podcast! I just love your enthusiasm and encouragement, even in the face of a project not working out. We've all been there! I laughed out loud about the stitch markers in the couch! Like I said, we've all been there... Your projects are all beautiful, both the finished objects and the ones in progress. It's lovely seeing them come to fruition. The harmony part was sooo beautiful and peaceful. It was breathtaking. The music you chose was spot on, as usual. Thank you! I always enjoy the podcasts. Thanks to all of you for all you put into them.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments Elizabeth!
betsy... i don't pretend to know what i'm talking about 😁 but i've been reading about different types of sheep and wool for various reasons. i do notice that certain breeds are noted as felting very well, not so much, etc. maybe it has to do with the scales and various other things. it's really quite interesting!
Thanks for putting together another great episode even though you're in crunch time for the festival...

I love your hat colors, Kim.
Love all the knits and all knitting information
That's the best reason ever for temperatures below 10c...no mosquitos!😆 Your sweater is absolutely stunning! Betsy, what an image...sheep in girdles. Good luck in finishing all your stuff for the Fibre Festival. Maybe someday I'll get there! HUgs

Yayyyy, mosquito’s gone! Now the challenge is always to get in as many woods walks as possible before the snow drifts arrive. Who am I kidding I LOVE our changing seasons. Each one is an adventure.
I find also that back stitch is great for textured knits and stockinette works great with mattress !
Thoroughly enjoyed your video!!!
Just finished my happy to see ewe and posted to Instagram. Betsy, I did some of the Charming Colorwork Socks motifs on cotton for coasters and dishcloths. In cotton yarn. Ugh. So so hard. Doing colorwork in other fibers is so much easier.
❤ the Harmony Part.
Wonderful show ladies. Silk does not felt at all....if you knit a silk only shawl there is no give at all so the size it is, it is...wool lace has give and you can stretch it to make a measurement or make it slightly bigger. With the silk mohair blend knitting it is only the mohair that felts and it certainly does that WELL. lol As for different types of wool some breeds felt well and some do not. In The Field Guide yo Fleece by Deb Robson she gives a description of 100 different sheep breeds and what they are best used for. I hope all goes swimmingly for the PEI Festival and can't wait to hear all about it the next episode. And your bags are so adorable!
Encore merci pour ce bel épisode 🎉❤❤
So enjoyable. A real treat to see you all and your work. Poor Poor Betsy. Still one of the best ways to learn is by experience and exploration. I do hope that the Festival is a great success and that you are all able to enjoy it. 😊🇬🇧
Another great podcast, ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE HARMONY PART, THOSE GARDENS ARE MY DREAM SPACE, LOVE THE MIXTURE OF THE ZEN STATUES WITH THE TRADITIONAL SHRUBS AND FLOWERS, ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!
Thanks for the info on bamboo.
Hello Ladies from Mounds, Illinois.
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode, as always. Betsy, sorry about your cowl, but nobody bats 1.000. And your shawl is wonderful. Simone, your sweater is a piece of art! I'll be thinking of you during Festival time. Not this year for me, but soon, I hope!

Thank you for the vote of confidence. I think I have found a workable solution to at least ensure the yarn does not go to waste and I will have a finished piece in the spirit of the original.
Having vicariously lived through the disappointment of the last two ill-fated fiber festivals, I wish you all every good wish that this one goes off without a hitch and turns into a huge success - I know it will and can't wait to hear all about it.
What a wonderful podcast! I just loved watching all three of you relate your various experiences and share them with us. I really enjoyed the discussion on colour work. Every project is a learning experience. Ripping it out means more knitting... and more wisdom. I just loved the Harmony part. I could feel the warmth of the sun and the wind on my face. Those gardens are just gorgeous, and I can only imagine the hard work involved. As usual, perfect pairing of music and surroundings. You always take us to visit such interesting corners of your beautiful island. Thank you for doing all that you do. A big hug from Italy, Rosanna 💖💖
Hope the fibre festival was great, wish I could have joined you, but I live in Devon, England, so a a bit far away. Maybe one day…………..
Absolutely beautiful Bouncing Sheep 🐑 bags💚💙
I’ve had my five of my cocoknits stitch markers mailed back to me from Ottawa. They are worth their weight in gold. :-). Another great podcast.
Lovely to see The Dunes'gardens! Another interesting and inspiring podcast!
I so enjoy your podcasts. Here’s hoping all goes well for the festival, especially the idea of color boxes! Thanks for all you do!
Such good content, as always, in this episode too! I am knitting Charlotte Stone’s design, Coffee Break socks and although the floats are not long and I am using a merino nylon mix yarn I did face some issue with the colorwork part much like Betsy. This is my first colorwork project and I thought being small it would be easy to tackle but I did struggle with it. It was a good learning experience though a steep curve I would say but the socks turned out well in the end. All the very best for the PEI fibre festival!
Always enjoy your videos and really like your bouncing sheep design and the Happy to See Ewe cowl. Luv it.
I’m getting itchy feet……can’t wait to see everyone! I can only imagine the excitement you guys must be feeling. Fourth try is the charm🤞🍀
Kim & Betsy, I have a funny story about those Coco Knit markers. I have a special needs daughter who likes to pick up things off the floor and put them into a pile in a particular spot in our kitchen. I think it's her way of cleaning. So when I can't find one of those markers in my craft room where I'm knitting, I just wait and check my daughter's special place and sure enough she finds them! I can't tell you how many times that has happened!

This is beautiful heart warming story. I love it. What a blessing to have such a gifted sleuth to help you out.
I love The Dunes! Beautiful ending to a beautiful podcast…
Thanks for all the color work discussion. I’ve run into those issues too and I’m very pleased to have some new fixes to try. You 3 are marvelous!!
There is no problem to work in the floats as you do Kim in other types of yarns, you just need to do it for at least 4 times with 3-4 sts in between. I've done it for at least 40 years without a problem in sweaters.

Great! Thanks Elizabeth.
Not all animal fibres felt as well as others. There are some sheep breeds that are difficult to felt ( not sure which ones though😊)
Enjoy the podcast, all the knitted items are very inspiring. Have a great fiber festival, can’t wait to hear about it.
That sweater colour is lovely on you Kim!
Fun podcast! I want to come and work with you. Or should I say come and play. I hope your festival is a big success. You have put so much work into it. Great jobs ladies!
Kim, Great video, as usual. Good luck at the festival. I wish I could attend. We recently visited PEI for the first time. I didn't know about the garden you showed in the harmony section. I wish I had gone there. Oh well, there may be a next time. Thanks for sharing. Suzanne
So enjoyed this episode! I had to chuckle at you and Betsy talking about lost stitch markers….been there so many times!

I’ve become a much more careful vacuum operator, that’s for sure.
Lovely episode! Someday I must tell you about my first (just last week!) drive over the NY/Canadian border. It was a little quirky, but I did it. I’ve always wanted to see PEI and now perhaps I might really be able to do that.
Wishing you all the best at the PEI fibre fest. Your sweater looks lovely on you Kim, great colour choices❤ Sorry things didnt work out with the cowl Betsy.😩 Beautifull sweater Simone🥰 Thanks for all your time and hard work to make this wonderful podcast.🥰Sharon.

Meh? Life will go forward and I think I’ve found a workable solution. It’s still not as amazing as Simone’s original, but it will do. I get really attracted to crazy “matchy matchy” things so maybe someday I will try a matching set of the baaable hat, mitts and happy to meet ewe cowl patterns, but not right now. I think it would be really adorable set for children. Sometimes I get a little sad that I didn’t know how to knit when my children were young and then I remember I didn’t learn until later because I was so busy with all the children. LOL. AND I remember how many hats and mitts got lost….so imagine if those were hand knit items and not just dollar store! I guess like it was all for the best.
What you are each wearing is beautiful to me in very different ways. I am prejudiced in my opinion because I love purple and mauve and, I love the colours in Simone’s jumper as they work together so well. I’m very impressed by Betsy’s honesty as it places her in a vulnerable position and she handles her beginner status admirably. I have picked my colours to make Rian (purple from JAT) Thank you so much Simone, the yellow you have chosen is just the bees, very pollen covered, knees! I can’t wait to see you wearing it. I’ve set the Rian aside while I make the Midori Hirose pattern White Mountain light. I’m trying to hurry but that is causing me to make mistakes with counting the rows (I also have had to restart. Like Betsy, I’m ok with that because I want it to look as good as the pattern). Thanks again for all the information and for the beautiful Diva’s Desire, I am very happy to have a memory of your beautiful Diva and the loving care you gave her.

I have a feeling I’ll make beginner errors for quite some time yet, as I’m always drawn to trying new things and then I forget to implement lessons learned from passed mistakes.
I'm itching to start my Wallin project, but I have a test knit/new baby project to finish first. Plus, I just jammed my right middle finger in a hinge this morning.... no knitting anything for a few days. I totally agree with Betsy about the colored Coco knit markers. I end up buying a new set every 18 months or so, small price to pay for pretty and useful stuff. On the other hand I only have one set of needles. So far.

Love my coco knit stitch markers. I don’t usually jump on the new tools train very quickly, but when I do finally get there I love it!
Looking forward to meeting you…I did not understand the tickets for the food and music festival ..is that ticket for the 3 days….?

There is a ticket to access the vendor market which is $10 for Friday and Saturday access. The event on Friday night is an evening with food and entertainment and there is a separate admission for that. It is held The Trailside which is a venue on the first floor of The Arts Hotel about 5 minutes from the Delta. The evening is called the Harbour Hullabaloo and is organized by the Fibre Festival. In addition to the PEI is hosting a 3 week event called Fall Flavours. This is an annual event completely separate from the PEI Fibre Festival. Here is the link to that: fallflavours.ca/events-calendar/?cat=curated-weekends I hope that answers your question. There is a lot going on here in October!
My husband calls my stitch markers "projectiles" becasue they shoot out at him when he gets into bed (where I've been knitting).
simone, is there a reference (online or otherwise) you might recommend for learning long draw? i've been fascinated by it for awhile. and maybe also for support spindle spinning? or maybe just breaking out my spindles and/or wheel and practice, practice...
Kim - given the recent news re Belfast Mini Mills store - will they still be vendors at the festival?
Enjoy a grand PEI FF! ❤
I cleaned out the couch and thought I found a stitch marker. It was a fruit loop.
U 3 r so interesting. Simone needs a life. Betsy needs more of... Kim needs help w more time. U briefly mentioned Kirk Dunns Pilgrim knitting theatre. Y'all should go together when it gets slow to see his stain glass knitting project. It is phenomenal. I've only seen it on Fruity Knitting but what a beauty. Have fun at the fiber fest. Thanks for sharing.
