WOW 😮 I never learned the mattress stitch so easily. For the first time, I am not filled with fear at the idea of seaming. You are an excellent teacher! Thank you.
I've been knitting for 19 years and have never been able to grasp the mechanics of mattress stitch until now. I have had some tragic sweater seaming incidents as a result. This makes it look so easy!
Omgosh I did it!! Been avoiding seaming for 17 years and I just executed my first successful mattress stitch thanks to you and this clear tutorial!! 🎉 THANK YOU!!

getting ready to seam and this makes it look much easier than i feared. my only question is how ill handle the 2 x 2 ribbing at the bottom since im seaming side seams of a sweater. thanks so much!

It will depend a bit on how your ribbing is set up, but you should be able to continue the mattress stitch into the ribbing. I like to set it up with 2 knit stitches at either end of each RS row, on the back and front, so that I can seam stockinette to stockinette. 1 stitch on each side disappears so you’ll get a smooth 2 stitch knit column at each seam.
