It's tragic. He began life alone and abandoned, and died alone and abandoned. At least in between he was able to become a world champion, something most of us will never get to experience.

Dwight Muhammad Qawi, Marvin Johnson, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, Yaqui Lopez, Victor Galindez, Rossman, Scott, Martin, Conteh and of course, the great Michael Spinks...these men made this a glorious time for the light-heavies. Thank you so much Mr. Fennell for taking the time to recognize this great champion. RIP, Saad...you are missed but still loved.

Saw Saad on North Broad St. while I was a graduate student at Temple in 1983. Was a huge fan, did a brief double take, then after he walked past me, I saw his name on the back of his workout outfit and I knew my eyes were not deceiving me. I hope he is off the canvas for good now, he still has the personal charm he had in his prime

Boxing eats people up and spits them out; its not the punches, its the corruption. Too many elite level fighters have ended up with nothing but slurred speech. As much as I dislike Dana White's attitude, he's probably what boxing needs; a czar.
