As someone who took a *somewhat* similar path, professionally, it truly was a record scratch moment for sure. Tbh I didn't expect his spouse to be female either. I'm not narrow-mindedly projecting stereotypes but after well over a decade in that field I've met *zero* hetero male hair stylists, only barbers.

I think it's really telling of Margaret that she didn't get in home care for Paul. She was exhausted and bored taking care of him but was so rich she could've afforded 24/7 care for him. I'm a senior in-home caregiver and have been doing it for 3 years right outta college. These are the kinda clients my company dreams of. Could pay 2-3 peoples bills until he passes and she would've had the freedom to do what she wants. I think it says that she was a classist and controlling woman through and through. I have a hard time feeling pity for anyone in this story except for Paul because I don't buy the molestation story. No one deserves to die like this though.

Wasn't Margaret considering putting Paul into a retirement home? Why didn't she do that in the first place when he became confused about where he was and kept having strokes? The medical staff at Australian retirement homes would know better than Margaret in how to care for a deteriorating old man.

Matthew's allegations of molestation against Paul seems a common thread in many murders. If he found Paul with his hand in his sons pants why did he not confront the situation then and there? I wonder if Matthew told his wife of Paul's alleged actions against their son? Matthew seems the rebellious troubled child who seemingly got what he expected until he didn't. It seems as if Margaret's alleged favoritism of Matthew may have blinded her to Matthew's true intentions. IMHO Matthew killed his mother and stepfather out of greed! This clearly shows that the old saying "money is the root of all evil" is often true and money is a strong motivator for some!

You ahd the ppl who voted this up should really do something that would help all of us, including yourself: learn context. Especially in this case. Ask yourself how often was child torture of pets mentioned in the sanitized/3 channels that existed in 1978, and would she had seen those three references? this is just framing. flies, eels or mice are not "pets". we are all being taught at school to do a dissection on frogs. that does not make us potential serial killers. Matthew suffered from a heartless autocratic psychopath, that ruined the life of her loving husband and that of all her children; also, the sexual abuse by his stepfather is more than a trivial offence (unless you are a dem). then, seeing the stepfather touching your own child inappropriately... how much can YOU take? in this case, the monsters were killed.

When a rich women remarries into money, yet doesn't want to really listen to what her children are saying, this could easily happen.. I notice that he adult son was injured from the salon. Thats a real injury...... and kinda he did need money to continue his life going forward. He had his mortgage secured and paid but it probably wasn't even in his name. My home isn't in my name, I have to go to court. I'm disabled and not only can I not deal with the property duties, if I want to live next 5 years I need to make plans. My mother does very similar things. Luckily for my mother , for as violent and crazy as she is, I'm am not this way. To jump on my mom and ambush an older woman. She's a mean bitch, but even when her 3rd husband got sick, she took care of him. She doesn't know better She really doesn't...she's always a been abusive and controlling..since it's fact this is my house, I'm confident about taking it to court. I'm not gonna murder nobody idk how these ppl think.....but I would learn how to distance myself from abusive families...but the lies about his step father when Paul had a damn stroke.. what a fool. Peoppe with strokes are rarely ABLE to go have children unless they are well rehabbed. Beware when you have money....nobody is there to be your buddy. Not even your own kids.

I remember this case well as I was selected to be a member of the jury during Matthews trial. There are a couple of inconsistencies in this video, notably the weapons used in the murders. As I recall a hammer was displayed and Matthew was asked if this was the weapon he used to bludgeon the victims with. At this point a male stood up in the gallery and shouted, "You mongrel." The judge struck down his gavel saying he understood people were upset but there would be order in his court. The next exhibit was a large saw which Matthew was asked if he had used to dispose of the victims bodies. Again the man from the gallery stood up and shouted, "You bastard." The judge slammed down his gavel saying, " I said there will be order in my court, what exactly is your problem?" The man replied, " Your Honour, I have lived next door to the defendant for 9 years now and every time I asked for my tools back, he said he didn't have them !"

If she was this crazy in love with Paul and were so high and mighty they can turn thier noses up due to "class" and "station in life", how the fuck could she not afford around the clock top notch in home health care for Paul? Supposedly she "loooooved" Paul so much yet she sends him to a clearly crappy senior babysitters center that let's him wander? If she was as rich and High society as she thinks she was, she could have just as easily secured a high end nursing care center that all the other rich old timers used for thier SOs and be done with it. Also, treating her grandson like shit because he is not from the sane stock is gross and I bet her other children treated thier nephew the same as her.

Lots of indicators that she was extremely manipulative, controlling and liked to have things to hold over other people in order to dictate how they led their lives. I'd say after the original nanny ratted out her cheating to her first husband, she decided she didn't want any other help at the home who could potentially expose her and damage her reputation. She clearly had things to hide and was aware she was not a good person.

Part is the fact that they share bone structure with the English but have better dental work and just look a bit more robust. I dunno. It’s weird but I can often pick an Aussie out just by looks.
