It wasn’t too long before Matthew’s colon exploded and he had a 2% chance of survival. David is just a little bit mellow than he used to be. Nothing else.

I am still grieving for someone who actually did seem like a friend to so many! Little did we know that his death would be "The Big Terrible Thing". Rest in Peace, Dear Matty! 😪💜

I see hundreds of comments here but I wonder how many of you actually read his Memoir from Nov of 2022? I just finished it. I bought it for my son for Christmas because he struggles with drinking but instead, I decided to keep it to read first just to make sure that it dealt with what he's going through so he could relate. I'm glad I kept it. In the last chapter, I closed the book and cried. Matty was a very tortured soul. He knew he would eventually die from his addiction yet he had the will to live which is why he didn't die sooner than he did. He said in his book, "I don't want to die. I'm scared to die but .... if dying was a consequence of getting to take the quantity of drugs I needed, then death was something I was going to have to accept. I don't want to die but if I have to in order to get sufficient drugs on board, then amen to oblivion." After finishing the book, I came to the conclusion that giving this book to my son would encourage him to accept a fate that I didn't want him accepting. Even though Matty helped many people, Matty confirmed the addicts' fate. He was hopeful HOWEVER in his own words, "Addiction has ruined so much of my life, it's not funny. It's ruined relationships. It's ruined the day-to-day process of being me. I'd trade being worried about money all the time to not have the disease, this addiction. It's going to kill me." He spoke of it like it was a Stage 5 cancer. He knew exactly what he was doing and CHOSE to do it. I'm not saying that, he said that in his Memoir. I don't want my son adopting this mindset. The book was more for me as his mother in understanding what he's going through but it's not for him personally.

I fully understand your decision after listening to Perry speak his own words, twice . I was looking for the hope , I didn't find it nor growth, it's very sad. It took me a while to stop thinking about it. I came out the other side, and you simply grow and mature very quickly and let go of the self-pity and regrets, but I struggled to hear this in Perry in sufficient quantity to actually overcome. I hope and pray that your son is beating this killer 🙏

You made the correct decision. After reading/listening to the book last year and highlights again earlier this year and with all the new information I now have I do not think Perry was sober at death. At the very most he was a dry drunk. If you want to review another celebrity rehab book check out Nick Carter's book. Yes Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys. One of the most inspiring rehab books I've ever read. He really takes responsibility for himself, follows the steps, and focuses on staying healthy including healthy boundaries and relationships. He also provides steps for recovery and a glimmer of hope.

I couldn't responsibly give this to an addict going through recovery or an addict period. It's almost as if he was faking things. Very sad.

Sadly Matthew Perry’s life story is if Chandler never married Monica, had kids or grew to become more confident in himself. He embodied Chandler with his comedic timing, personality but also with Chandler’s Initial cons. Unlike his character he never grew out of those flaws. He died alone at his big house with no wife, no kids, no friends by his side and no one knows what he was feeling or thinking in his last moments. Rest In Peace ❤

You need to go back and watch the "Heckles dies" episode on Friends. It is unbelievably eerily fortuitous. MP in the episode says "I'm going to die alone, I'm going to die young before my time". A lot of other eerie foreshadowing. Mathew was nothing but a good guy and a good man and a nice man. It's so sad

The person you remind me of the most is young Corey Haim. How you managed to live to 54 is a miracle. Friends gave you life and longevity. As a female w ADHD, he sounds like he had ADHD. He was very hyper and had childhood anxiety. But, in our generation, those issues were not taken into account. 😞😇😢

Was my thoughts exactly! When he talked on how alcohol made him feel was when I first thought. I have adhd and thankfully I'm not an alcoholic as I abstain. If I didn't have kids I mgt be as I found it difficult to stop before kids. His downfall was having money on which to free fall...

I don't agree as a parent of a child with ADHD. How could he not have childhood anxiety? They put him on a major drug at birth and then just tossed him back and forth.

Wow he struggled so much!!! His prayer was answered for sure, we all love him. Now he is finally at peace and knows how much we always will love and remember him.

Matthew Perry also admits to hiding his pain and most addicts do he was a loner. People also always said that he would make people laugh and avoid talking about himself look at the interviews. He always chooses to avert into comedy, or ask about others so chances are they would report he seems fine. He was joking, so if he’s hurting, of course, people would say he seemed fine. He was laughing think about this. He felt nothing on the set of friends on the end of the show and yet he was still cracking jokes yet felt dead inside. That should tell you something people sometimes people can be reaching out, but also on the other hand, I am truly alone and nobody reaches out to me, but I reach out to others after my mother died, and I was in a lot of pain, so sometimes nobody knows what anybody’s going through in their own homes and their own bedrooms in their own heads so nobody knows what a person is really going through in their head. We all think we know look at Robin Williams who would’ve thought that would have happened either. I’m not comparing Matthew Perry and his ending and suggesting that’s what happened to him at all. I’m just saying I couldn’t believe what happened to Robin millions either. I don’t know it’s all just so tragic rest in peace those that are gone, it’s all sad

I completely understand how you feel; however I degress. When Matt was in severe pain, his best friend ( I forgot her name) took him to the hospital, and never left his side. True his family was in and out of his life, but with the disease of addiction, the feeling of loneliness is magnified. I know, I was there. It's a terrible disease. It takes yrs. to feel good in your skin. I feel terrible that Matt went through what he went through, he will be greatly missed.

I hope Matthew's life helps people understand how the 'missteps' of his parents and how their inability to be there for him impacted his ability to function. He struggled with lots of demons and used those experiences to help others. He would have been happy to know the amount of love and respect he's received since his death. He did a lot for people and will continue to do so through his legacy and his book.

Both his parents failed him. All he wanted was love from his parents and didn't get it so he numbed that pain with alcohol and drugs, I know that pain all to well. Then he goes to HollyWeird and gets swolled by that beast. WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU MATTHEW

His childhood was so messed up u dont give a baby any kind of drug because they are crying shame on them this man craved his mothers attention and luv she failed his father drinking issues forget it this poor talented man was lonely afraid had no self worth parents dont realize the impact they have on their child shame on them find peace and make them laugh in heaven RIP a funny gifted man ❤❤❤❤❤❤

You can fault the parents for bad parenting but don't crucify them for following doctor's orders. Phenobarbital was prescribed to my 4 month old daughter for colic in 1982. I gave it to her once, it knocked her out cold and I sat beside her crib all night making sure she was breathing. My point is back in those decades you trusted your doctor and had no reason to doubt what they prescribed, they had the medical degree. Today it is very different, doctors, hospital corporations, health insurance and big pharma all work together for one thing $$$ but there was a time when it wasn't like that.

Agree! So many people hide the pain of rejection and not feeling loved by their parent in addition.. if your own mother can't love you, how could anyone else ever love you? Seems like that haunted Matthew his whole life and kept him from ever committing in a relationship.. so sad.

I wonder sometimes if he got married and had kids could have saved him from himself. But then I hate to say it with his addictions it was for the best not to. Regardless I really loved Matthew Perry as a fan and having a hard time getting over his passing. RIP Matthew.

William Shatner said Leonard Nimoy called him and said, "Do. Not. Marry. An. Alcoholic." Nimoy used to be an alcoholic. Shatner married her anyway and one day his child from a previous marriage was in the car with a drunk driver and they were in an accident. (Yes, he divorced her.) So if there was an angel on Matthew Perry's shoulder who said, "You have to live for your kids now," and it really happened, that he sobered up, fine, but what about the devil on his shoulder who said relaxing with ketamine would be a good idea. Judy Garland's former husband said he gave people strict instructions to put a saucer with 1-2 Nembutal, or Seconal or whatever it was, on Judy's nightstand and the boy-toy she was married to at the time of her death in 1968 probably put a bottle on the nightstand. She was born the same year as my dad. My dad died in 2018. I thought, "There must be something I just can't understand," when the little girl from Wizard of Oz died in 1968. It also said in the bio of Judy Garland that she pretended she wanted to visit somebody when they were driving through Bel Air to work, and the driver obligingly stopped, and Judy went into the bathroom and stole "Friends" -- yes, she called Bennies (red amphetamines) and Black Beauties (Nembutal) her "Friends" -- from the medicine cabinet. So when George Burns stopped at Jack Benny's house every evening on the way home from work, to have a drink, was he raiding Jack Benny's medicine cabinet? The people who told their friends, "Matthew Perry came to our open house today!," didn't know he was always going to say, "It's not exactly what I'm looking for."

Seems like both of his parents failed him a lot as he was growing up.

His parents did they're best...he choose to be a victim of his past experience..he held onto it like a life bouy is held by drowning person..he turned out very well but focused on the trauma he had in childhood..decided to block out all his good fortune..his parents are actually very supportive of him..he regressed to his 5 yr old self all his life..but he could have valued himself..he didn't love himself because he felt unloved by his parents, I don't know why! They were good, in the situation they did what they could at the time..but he chose not to see that until later in life, when he had treatment to accept he was an adult and responsible for his own experience

He was raised by nannies while his father was pursuing a Hollywood career and his mother was chasing men and a career and never there for him. That kind of rejection follows a child all of their life, and some people can move past that pain, and some hide it with addiction, never understanding why they weren't good enough. Matthew said that he felt the need to play the 'man of the house' at three years old.. and yet couldn't get the attention of a mother who brought man after man in his life, always looking for a father, only to have them leave. His loneliness as a child never left him and his addiction was the only thing to take away the pain.. so tragically sad A child wants nothing more than the love of their parent, and when this need is not met, it has detrimental results in a persons life.

I tried watching Friends a couple of times, but couldn’t get through more than a few minutes with each attempt. In spite of not liking the show, I did respect Matthew Perry. His openness when talking about his struggles with alcoholism made him seem down to earth and for a Hollywood star that is an endearing quality that is rarely seen.

Fox, Bob Newhart, and Harry Anderson to save them as the Golden Girls, the *Facts of Life* girls, and the Designing Women, and Kate & Allie acted as nurses for them. Nell Carter sang at the funeral. Ricky Schroder gave a moving sermon while Clifton Davis, the minister in attendance, led the congregation in prayer. Mr. Belvedere cleaned up afterwards. Gary Coleman, Emmanuel Lewis, and Soleil Moon Frye were unavailable because they were already booked on “where are they now” episodes of talkshows with various combinations of Bradys, Cleavers, and Partridges.

This production is very well done. Professional, entertaining, and down to earth.

You said Chandler instead of Matt. I still feel like he had so much to do. His only wish was to marry and have a child. I wish he could have found this after he turned that corner to sobriety although i know it must have been a day to day struggle. He should have been given more time.

Poor Marty he is so talked about. Some bad some good. Everyone needs to leave him alone. He went through hell his entire life from being a baby till 2023. He was so sad. We just need to let him rest in peace. Finally. So much for one person to go through. Could we all do it🥲☹️ Quit trying to read more into his medical report. It could be so many things. I think we all just left him so much because he made us laugh and we can kind of relate to feeling alone and then loved and being rejected and it’s been so devastating knowing that he is dead and we are all morning his loss and how much we cared for him And how we cheered on him fighting the good fight and how we miss him and how we want to understand what happened and that makes some of us want closure want to know the facts because some of us that’s how we cope because if we know the facts, maybe we can understand And it’s not that we are trying to dissect him. We are just trying to understand now I think some are just out to destroy him and ruin his legacy and that is horrible and I want Matthew Perry to rest in peace because he truly had a horrible wife of sad life, and I want him to rest and finally rest in peace forever and be remembered or not he died, but he made us laugh and smile, and did my own life when I was lonely and alone and sad and now he still brings me great, and every day, as I fall asleep to friends and wake up to friends thank you Matthew Perry. You are not forgotten rest in peace.

At the friends reunion, during the interview Matthew came right out and said he never heard from any other cast members. It was sad you could tell he didnt feel welcome or loved or like he mattered to them. He was a fantastic actor and a decent dude. He had problems yes but who doesnt. He was at least honest about his struggles.

Amazing job! We've seen so much lately because of his passing but somehow this production sounds & looks fresh - more comentaries & heaps of scenes/pictures behind the narration. 👏

Just finished friends, and after losing Matthew it hits different.. What a good dude, rip buddy.

To be honest I picture him saying to everyone and shows that failed that he would be saying "now you notice me?" 🤷

He is an unreliable source in his own life story. Discerning sitcom aficionados despise *F(r)iends* and recognize it as an inferior ripoff of the actually funny *Living Single.* His fame was based in cultural appropriation, and so was that of his co-stars. If I were Ricky Schroder, whom putting in the same room with Helen Reddy at the launch of The Disney Channel apparently changed nothing regarding, I would have regretted being powerless to stop Matthew Perry from appearing on *Silver Spoons.* I also would have regretted that the cast and crew did not stage a revolt against Norman Lear/Embassy and take the show to Alan Landsburg, the producer of *Gimme A Break!* and *Kate and Allie,* two shows that benefited from not having Lear involved with them despite having his former collaborators writing and producing them. Then VEI could have released the complete series on DVD by now.

A lot of us addicts have bad parents, if we have parents in our lives at all. We have devastating past experiences, and that doesn’t mean we keep getting loaded. Perry had a life that most addicts never have the opportunity to experience. The only thing wrong with his life was that no one could say no to him, he was spoiled and privileged. I had to live on the streets of Los Angeles as a teenager and get sober, put myself through nursing school and fight to stay clean through several decades of relapse. I finally have several years of sobriety again (over 13 years) and I didn’t have near the privilege and blessings Perry had. I help others get better as a case manager. This pity for wealthy actors is not only misleading but also doesn’t help people understand the importance of the responsibility addicts have to get their lives together. Perry died because he was UNWILLING to get sober. He had every opportunity at his disposal. Most addicts have much more adversity in their lives yet don’t choose to get loaded and throw their sobriety out the window.

I would not say that he was UNWILLING to get sober. Rather, I find that he had many deficits. Early childhood deficits of neurological challenges perpetuated by the doctor who prescribed medications - to put him to sleep - a colicky child. Listen to his autobiography, you will learn much. Each addict must find one’s fight to live - you found your fight, and you made it. Statistics demonstrate that more die, than live. It’s wonderful that you’re a nurse - or case manager. However, your judgmental qualities are alarming to me - especially in the study of addiction. Indeed, you made extraordinary changes in your life. However, it does not mean that each person struggling with addiction is able to make these changes, nor does it mean that they are resistant to making these changes. Even with earning 1 million dollars weekly, he could not find his way. It doesn’t matter where we come from - whether one is homeless, whether one has a penthouse. What matters is that YOU were able to make it. AND EVEN THOUGH HE DIDN’T MAKE IT - HE LEFT US WITH A MESSAGE THAT WILL FOREVER be a message for those many thousands of addicts who listen to, or read his autobiography. His message is profound as it begins at neurological birth - medicated at birth. Think about it for one moment. Finally, his message is ever more powerful than you will ever be. Keep learning nurse, because I never want to be under your care. He WAS NOT UNWILLING TO GET SOBER. You are unwilling to remain non-judgmental. AND you commented before you even bothered to read or hear his amazing autobiography. HE WILL TOUCH MORE PEOPLE IN HIS DEATH THAN HE HAS IN HIS LIFE - AND THAT was his LIFE’S MESSAGE. I have been trying to get off pain pills been on for 15 years it's so so hard I would love the opportunity to go to rehab he was very fortunate to have so many opportunities with the rehab facility. I really don't know if I can do it alone praying Jesus gives me the strength 😢Congratulations with your sobriety 🙏🏻🎉

Matty touched on this in his memoir. He said he wished his friends would have done an intervention, but none of them got involved with what might have been going on with him. You should read his book. It confirms what you say.

Matthew Perry had a role in "Nine Zero Two One Zero". We've all heard of that TV series, right? We all say we watched "Nine Zero Two One Zero" and no one gives us questioning glances! Don't we just love AI???? I'm trying to understand how a doctor and two parents could think drugging an infant nightly was a good thing??? What an obstacle that young boy had to overcome. There are no words I can say on a public forum. Many hugs for Matthew.

So basically, he never felt good enough for the women he dated because he never recovered from the emotional scar of having been abandoned as an infant by his father (the lesson learned was that he wasn't lovable enough as a baby for his father to want to stick around with him and his mother), and later, in his teenage years, sort of emotionally abandoned by his mother when she started growing a new family. He felt like the women in his life would run away from him eventually just like his father had done. Regarding his lifelong substance and alcohol abuse, that could probably be traced right back to the 1st time he got a taste of it, when he was sedated by his parents as a baby, so that he would sleep through the night and they could get some sleep. He must have felt abandoned his whole life because it happened in his formative years, and probably implanted in his nervous system. I so understandably the feeling and lifelong aching pain...

His mother abandoned him as a young child as well, chasing after men and a career.. he talks about how he saw every boyfriend she brought home as a father figure, only for them to leave.. he wanted his parents to get back together so he had a mom who wasn't gone, running after men. I think he always felt like the women he dated would leave because he felt abandoned and unloved by his mother.. there are millions of men raised by single mothers, and they don't grow up like this and sabotage every relationship with a woman; they can find love and marry if they felt loved and cared for by their mother.. Matthew sadly didn't

I really appreciate Mathew Perry. I was so devastated by the news, also saddened that he was alone and lonely. His childhood is hauntingly similar yet my mother left , my grandparents hid me from the Gilsons. I ended up with an incredibly abusive step father. I used to travel all over the country from age 4. I had a collection of Pan Am wings and planes from the pilot. The stewardesses were beautiful and kind. Similar but not precise. My 'father figures' were Michael Landon, Harrison Ford, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Cain, Loren Greene, Sylvester Stallone, Ivanhoe, King Arthur, Robinhood. Also my best friend Christian Donaldson who I was able to scrap daily with on Woody Creek court in Cameron Park. It was summer after second grade and he was four years older, and a big guy. After a month our mothers had a talk at our home and Sherry came to the conclusion that he would take me fishing all day the next day on his Bass Hunter boat. We laughed while they had this discussion in the other room about the bumps and bruises, scraped hands and knees bloody noses, misses and who had hit who were with a red clay dirt clod or rock. We were heavy hitters. I had recently jumped up on the front of my bully Brian clamping my legs who was about 5'8, so I could pound his face, then he turned and I pounded till he gave up and crawled away crying. I was so tired of a year of taunting bullying and shoving. Consequently I was suffering from a Brown Recluse spider bite on my left hand right where Toby Maguire Spiderman was bitten, I still have the scar. Brian had knocked me down on my face in wet muddy grass and the wound spurted banana colored puss. Anyways my childhood was full of trauma yet extremely wealthy Grandparents who were mostly awesome to me; which brought the wrath of my mom and stepdad. I was beginning to suffer from anxiety starting 7th grade. My alcoholic veteran stepdad was super scary and violent. Mike and mother were both swift with belt hand under arm pinch, and worse from Mike until like Christian I didn't feel the pain. It got to where no matter how hard they hit my back legs and butt even with a stick didn't hurt. I would sometimes laugh. Until once Mike lifted me up by my turtle neck throat, slammed my spine against the corner of a wooden cabinet, then punched my face so hard it almost broke my neck, because I always would look away from his beady little hatefilled eyes He was 6'5 350lbs. The worst beating I had from him was when I was 5, over a misunderstanding about permission to visit my friend Franky from my mother. I hadn't lied, my mother had woken up from my question on the couch and said yeah yeah and went back to sleep. I came back to Mike alone in the house and he said I had lied. I certainly wasn't a liar. I had recently been restricted for one month in my room for buying a popsicle for fifteen cents from the ice cream man when I was home alone from 1st Grade. I had found change in the couch cushions. My mother was furious when she came home from college when she found me eating it. After grilling me about how I bought it, she said I was a thief and I was on restriction in my bedroom for a month with not much food. Lucky I already was reading. I had Golden books, a Star Wars question and answer book, a Wildlife question and answer book. It was still lonely. I found many lonely long restrictions until I was 18 for minor infractions or just arguing back. Mike asked if I wanted to be on restriction again or take a spanking. I said I would rather have a spanking. He yelled, "Oh you want to be a man huh!!? I will show you what it means to be a man... Then he drug me down into the lower room. Then Mike stuffed my face under the couch cushions, yanked down my pants, and just kept whopping my ass until I couldn't breathe and went unconscious, he was dragging my limp body up the steps by my neck when I heard my Mom screaming "Mike, Mike what did you do? I'm pretty sure he had already smashed my dog Baby's puppies with a brick in the backyard telling me they were just rats. Well he must have cussed at me the entire time, because the next day at school I was freaking out when an older boy who was my friend before came into the bathroom behind me. I was totally different and the teachers took me in(female Hebrew women) and I said I was afraid he might look at me or hurt me. I then said a story about being attacked on the way home so I was afraid to go home, and all the bad words that were being screamed at me. I miss that school, there was a Neill Armstrong and space capsule mural. I had 5 best friends. Jay and Frankie, one Jewish, Jacob and one African American, who would try to catch fireflies in a jar, and we talked about Lincoln and in an argument I said something horrible about slavery to my friend I loved. I had two girlfriends. One 'tongue whom I was better at teaching language than her speech therapist,(because she wanted to meet me and was amazing at my ability to say every difficult word like Elephant, so I told her about Kamado dragons. We would catch ladybugs like crazy then we ran to the other girlfriend's house to watch Stan Lee's 1977 Spiderman and the Fantastic 4. I was always great friends with girls until 23. I appreciate the rant, but there was a time at 21 doing roofing for my Uncle David in Bullhead City AZ the only thing that prevented my suicide was the In Living Color/Friends/Seinfeld Episodes also Saturday the Stan Lee X-Men, Spiderman Cartoon followed by the Tick. 1992-93. In Lake Havasu City AZ in 1990 working 3 Jobs 6-7days a week I was only able to watch Arsenio Hall. I loved the cast of friends so much. I couldn't decide whether I was more attracted to Monica Rachel or Phoebe. I was totally enthralled by Lisa Kudro and Jennifer Aniston. I so wished I could room with Chandler and Joey. I knew I was potentially an alcoholic the first time I got drunk with some girls at Tommy Brown's at 14. I felt so high from four wine coolers I had to check in the mirror if it was real. I then proceeded to drink enough to vomit blood and then bicycle home(I had snuck out). I had had one or two drinks since youth. My cousin Jacob and I splitting a beer after fetching some for Grandpa Don Mike and Jim Grabau. Or Grandpa slipped my some blue margarita under the table at the Coral Reef Hawaiian Chinese restaurant in Sacramento. Or some Aids Proof 80 proof from Tommy Brown at an 8th grade party when I made out with Liza Castle. I saw my later 3 girlfriends there too. Phoebe ( Fay Brianne) , Mickey (Michelle Woodall), Sarah Koban, and Andrea Dean. I mean apparently my friend Danny Bishop told me in Carmichael that Danny, I and Molly Ringwall had been in elementary schools at San Juan Elementary. He told me she was in Sacramento doing a play, "A fist full of pennies." He did have her number on his mobile. I had so many Saturday schools at Oakridge H.S. in El Dorado Hills CA that I was totally dying with my friends in the 80's watching The Breakfast club. Although Mr. Sealy was an awesome guy, I had great friendships with some teachers like Ms. Allen, Mrs. Nakagawa, and Mr. Sealy. The assistant principal and guidance counselor were more like that dude. I'm rambling because my heart broke when I heard of his death, just like Steve Irwin, and Heath Ledger.

I have been in show business on and off since I was a child. My parents didn’t push me into show business. I pushed myself. I just dragged them along for the ride because I wasn’t old enough to drive yet. And they loved me enough not to pimp me out to bad people, although I wish they would’ve pushed me harder. I think they had unfulfilled artistic ambitions that they used me and my sisters as excuses to give up on, so subconsciously they didn’t want me to get too big. Still, this is why I don’t buy the excuses of anybody who started out in the business as a child, who starts with all this “woe is me” crap, especially not him. Macaulay Culkin went through some rough patches, but he seems to have left the worst years behind him. Ricky Schroder and Jason Bateman both lived to tell about their child star days, and so did Alfonso Ribiero. Jodie Foster did the opposite of crash and burn, she thrived.

His parents failed him. From the first day of his life, giving him drugs to make him quiet. Hope now he is in peace! By the way great video, very well done!

Leather Pants. Fave episode!! I remember seeing Matthew in Jimmy Reardon when the film was first out in theaters as I was (remain!) a huge River Phoenix fan. So extremely sad they both struggled with the hell that is addiction and lost.

Absolutely brilliant video and so true and honest, but also a way to honor and remember Matthew Perry, like my favorite episode of Friends is when Chandler and Joey were sitting the those comfortable chairs and didn't get off them haha 😆

You should have waited to post this video because as a true addict his death was in fact drug related. On December 15, 2023, Perry's death was revealed to have occurred due to the acute effects of ketamine.

Walt Disney died on December 15. He died of lung cancer. Most people blame his tobacco smoking. I blame his carbohydrate intake.

Addictions is such a nightmare I have battled for five decades Some people catch it the first time around As an alcoholic.. have had periods of sobriety.. always wanting to stay that way..abstinent. No stop button upon a relapse

He was 54, yet he looked way older. Tired and unhealthy. It's beyond me why someone so attractive, witty and wealthy can't find any happiness in small things. He could have had it all. I have the feeling deep down he was a bit narcissistic. Those people are never satisfied with life, they can't feel, or truly love, that's why they pursue feeling something out of getting high. Being scared of commitment is one big red flag. He was actually dead inside. That's a trauma that isn't easily healed. The addiction is the consequence, not the root of the problem.

I don’t. I am disappointed in him. He was never truly sober or he would not have relapsed so frequently. I always loved him as an actor and Chandler was my favourite Friends character, but he made his choices and knew the consequences but still did it. Don’t look up to him. Learn from his mistakes.

I feel most proud of his actions towards those with addictions .. He helped so many and those lives will never be the same and that means that Matthew affected so many people that you couldnt count them. Sadly, the world lost a great comedian , a sweet soul and for sure a good friend. May you rest in peace Sir and know that you will be missed immensely

I have been on Norco for 15 yrs due to lupus, arthritis etc does not even help my pain anymore just need to take it to feel normal. It's horrible I want to get off he was so fortunate to be able to go to rehab if I had the money I would go in a heartbeat trying to wean off and it's so so hard. Rest in peace Matthew Perry 💔🙏🏻

I think he had BPD symptoms more so than any other disorder.

You cant help someone else if you cant help yourself first. Its like the saying that you can't truly love someone if you don't love yourself.

⁠l think love is mostly a learned trait, and to love, we must first be loved. Matthew sadly never felt that love from his parents, namely his mother, who was too busy chasing men and a career and not there for her son. Not feeling loved left him feeling inadequate and unworthy.. and alone; feelings he was never able to master or defeat unless numbed by drugs or alcohol. So so sad.

I was so crushed when he died, I really hope he has peace now. Some of this kinda remind me of BPD, the serious fear of abandonment, i have BPD, but I’m not a doctor and I never met him, but it just sounds familiar.

The way he speaks about his parents shows, to me anyway, how much he has internalized his trauma. He speaks about them in a form of "understanding" knowing they weren't perfect and yet knew there was something missing... the amount of pain he endured for the sake of those he loved... even when those who SHOULD have loved him, didn't... i just hope his flaws aren't twisted as time moves on... he was too strong...

Kind? When did Keanu Reeves ever talk trash about anybody the way Matthew Perry talked trash about him?

That "I met the woman of my dreams at the dry cleaners monologue" was my favorite scene in the movie and to this day still resonates in my own life 💯🔥

I'm watching this and want to cut it off. But something keeps me from doing this. My heart breaks this man. Such a good actor.rip

We may never really know what happened because no one was there. The forensic evidence does show that there was too much anesthetic ketamine. What I meant was he kept trying over and over and over to get better. He kept trying. It was a lifelong battle. We do not all have the strength, perserverance and the guts to triumph. The ultimate source should come from God. It has to be sincere and able to give Him our trust. Many people are not raised with all the proper tools. Money does not guarantee success, happiness or triumph. But he had the money and he kept on trying. Did he take the ketamine on purpose? It sounds like it. But you know the devil never sleeps and keeps prowling to devour souls everywhere. We don't know the "actual" cause of death. Did he want to get high on the ketamine and had too much, did the bottle slip and he drank too much? He said he did not want to die or kill himself... did his teeth hurt (he had all his teeth replaced one at a time). What eas he thinking. Maybe he was just worn out from all his battles. We don't know. God knows. Not us. In the end all I can admire him for or at least give him credit for is "trying, trying, trying."

I also had heard the ketamine he used was in pill form because they found the capsule in his belly. Ketamine therapy is only approved as a nasal spray. He was a fighter tho, and he was honest about his struggle and I respect him for that.

My daughter and I always go away for a weeks in between Christmas and New Year. For this reason, we always give each other a "small" present and then buy the proper present while we're away. We are only supposed to spend AUD$10.00 on each other. Last Christmas I couldn't resist and bought her Matthew Perry's book. But I also bought one for myself. She cried when she saw it. Then I told her she couldn't start reading it until we went away so we could read it together and talk about it. She finished hers first because she sat up all night reading and didn't finish until 2.00AM. Reading his book was just like he was talking to us. We both felt that way as I sure millions of others have.

I fell in love with Mathew's comedy with Friends of course & then the whole nine yards and a few other films. I feel, because i watched friends for so many years with my parents as our nightly routine, I feel I lost a family member. I knew he struggled with substances, but absolutely had no idea about the misery that started when he was a child. Rest in Peace Matty * hehe i can tell u're much younger than a gen X - the beverly hills show is pronounced "Beverly Hills nine oh two one oh" not nine zero two one zero :)

Its a great biography except for the speculations about his death in the last few minutes..May he rest in peace.Amen He had a beautiful soul and will be truly missed

His dad was really good looking and Matthew takes after him.ha sounds like me as a kid looking out the window in every room,id call in sick at the office pretty much every month.then one day my social studies teacher closed the blinds then another day was senior skip day.he said if you skip like the others then I'll fail you.so that day it was just me in the class 😆

it's funny how you get into a character and connect with it so deeply that you don't want to get out

Matthew was alluring to the public with his fan base knowing his struggles. However intimately he could be cruel and play games. And show up months later when you tried to move on when he says he couldn't offer what you wanted to appear as you begin to heal to totally reverse that decision and crash into your lifestyle.
