Incredibly. Seems like a great person too.
Interesting how Modine sounds exactly like he did in the film. Hearing his voice only you wouldn't guess his age.

Yeah definitely! I guess the most challenging thing for Kubrick in directing Mathew was actually making him look concerned or afraid or sad ^^! but the "joker" part of the role is totally Modine's natural self! :)

@@francoisbouchet9907I’m commending this very late but Modine played a traumatized war vet in 1984 very well, he’s a versatile actor and amazing at what he does
I went and saw the 4K restoration of A Clockwork Orange at Texas Theatre in Dallas a year or so ago and there was a Q&A after the screening with Malcolm McDowell and it was absolutely incredible hearing Malcolm tell all these stories. I could listen to him talk about Stanley for hours.
Matthew is so eloquent. A great storyteller.
If you put Kubrick's casts in a room together, you get the greatest room of classic superstars. Kirk Douglas, Matthew Modine, Malcolm Mcdowell, Jack Nicholson, James Earl Jones, Lee Ermey, Tom Cruise, Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood...i'm sure i'm missing a couple.

I'm a huge kubrickan, love his films.Their collection of art!!.
Great Kubrick stories from great actors....
"Alex Delarge" and "the sergeant joker" talking together... Well kind of. It was an interesting video, but I never thought to see them.
There’s so much discussed about Kubrick’s films and even him as a person. I seldom hear people discuss his eclectic casting choices though- and any fan of Kubrick’s has to admit that his choices for leading roles was all over the map. From A-listers like Jack Nicholson, Ryan O’Neal... to relative-unknowns like Sue Lyon, R. Lee Ermey, Keir Dullea, Matthew Modine, and Malcolm McDowell. He didn’t seem to favor any specific type of actor or even have any real approach to directing them. By all accounts he gave next-to-no instructions (unless they were really fucking up like Shelley Duvall) and simply did a hundred takes. How he was able to avoid studio interference with his casting choices, long production schedules, and controversial subject matter still amazes me.

Great video Tour of Duty... What a great youth euphemism. Did you catch that?

Where are the cast members of 2001?
I don't know where Modine is from, but he looks like Kansas.
Did Matthew Modine passed away ?

WHY didn't Pvt Pyle take that extra shot when he had the chance? Pvt Joker wouldn't have been missed, but R Lee Ermey' s character sure was. So was Pvt Pyle' s.
How ironic that Malcolm never could get in touch with Kubrick again ?
McDowell slagged Kubrick off for years. He now seems intent on promoting his legacy.
McDowell comes across a bit of a jerk in this clip and I get the impression that Modine is becoming irritated by McDowell interrupting him.

He's a fine actor, I think. Did you ever see the film Birdy from 1984? I dunno, maybe he has a type. But he sure gets into some good movies!
Malcolm McDowell is so annoying. So butthurt over Stanley's leaving him. He's always so antsy talking about him
