It's so funny how when Joey was little he and Andrew looked exactly alike. And now that Andrew is older he and Matthew looked a like, but when Matt was younger. Soooo cute all of them.

I was thinking the same thing! When they were little, they all looked exactly alike! Now, as adults, they look very different to me, though.

I just remembered that Matthew was on "Gimme a Break" too; and if I ever get the opportunity to meet Joey Lawrence, I must ask him why he has failed to acknowledge his role, his break out start on "Gimme a Break" w/ Nell Carter. He refuses to acknowledge that show. I want to know, is it from some childhood traumas?? That would be very personal. And I'd mind my business. But, It's been 40 years...not a peep.

I didn’t know that. I was always under the impression he was proud of that show. He has said when he was first brought on to the show, he didn’t like Nell. But soon after, they became very close. She was on an episode of Brotherly Love.

Now that he has a podcast, he mentions it a lot. I didn’t even know about it. He says amazing things about the cast, directors, everything he learned, etc.

+Julie Casanova Yes it is Matthew. I watched this show back when it was originally on tv. it ended in 1987. Andrew wasn't even born until 1988.

I notice that too....I always wondered why their hair was light when they were little and darker as they got older...I think they are Italian...I think they dyed their hair when they were younger to get them into show business...just a thought because I know they did in fact changed their last name to lawerence...Andy was the only one born with that last name....

Matthew was naturally blonde as baby. It started turning darker when he was around 10 or 11 and continued as he aged. Same for his brothers, their hair was a lighter shade of brown but changed as they got older. Joey was born Joseph Lawrence Mignogna. Jr. Their father legally changed the family name to Lawrence (Joey's middle name) before Matthew was born. Matthew and Andrew both were born with Lawrence as their last names. Yes, they are Italian and English.

+iloveyou75204 Yeah, most people's hair darkens naturally as they get older. I had light powder blonde hair until like age 7/8 then it was more 'dirty blond' and now it could pass for light brown. That's normal. It's rarer for someone to stay blond into adulthood.

I've always had a hard time trying to figure out exactly how to describe Gimme a Break. Like who specifically was it for. Black audiances? Black Women? Women in general? Whole families? Seemed all over the place.
