Matthew

In this video, we take a closer look at Jesus's words when He states in Matt. 16:24, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me."
What is Jesus proclaiming with these words?
To follow Him, is Jesus directing us to forbid ourselves from the lusts of the flesh, or is He actually telling us us to stop trusting in our works of the flesh?
What does it truly mean to "deny yourself"?

I deny that I have any ability to save or keep myself saved. Jesus’ blood is sufficient. 💝 it was so sufficient that Jesus was resurrected proving that my salvation has been paid for in full.

Jordan Jackson : Matthew 26:28 and Hebrews 9:22 makes it clear. Hebrews 10 is talking about the going (back) to the Old Testament shadows and types rather than the actual blood of the Son of God. The blood of bulls and goats can not ever take away sin. “Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:9-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jordan Jackson: what I believe is biblical. “Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.” ‭‭John‬ ‭6:53-56‬ ‭KJV‬‬ People do get so offended that in the verse John 6:66 many who were his disciples walked with him no more.

Thank you for this message, I loosen the word of matthew 16:24, 2 corinthians 6:14-15, matthew 6:24, 1 john 3:10 for myself, my opponents and the body of Christ at all times to deny oneself and carry one's own cross in agreement this message, while I and the body of Christ will not be unequally yoked with and have any common share with any evildoer serving satan. Salvation may not be worked based and humans are sinners, but taking something to the cross and carrying your own cross by all means does mean we have a responsibility to cast out evil! God bless, binding every spirit that does not deny oneself and take up one's cross daily to the pit of hell upon no return in my life, in the name and by the blood of Jesus Christ, at the foot of the cross of Calvary, amen. I made a comment under another of your videos saying that in my personal experience being a 4 th generation C o Christ member ( now former ), that in my observations Jesus took a back seat to the elders rules and that we got far more sermons on Paul than on what Jesus did for us. It was dry dogma preaching. Obedience. No joy, no gratitude for the grace we were given. It was ' Hear, believe, repent, be baptized ( in water only ). Attend church three times a week and more if ordered to by the elders. The elders have rights to direct your lives, the right to order you to be shunned and disfellowshipped,....and on and on... I was told by another viewer that Paul was an apostle ( ?) of Jesus and that Jesus only talked about the OLD law, whereas Paul talked about the new era after the Law passed away. I know Paul was not an apostle, but apparently the other viewer doesn't. Sheesh. I remember discussions in auditorium classes about what was the firmament, Really....and whose face was on the Roman coins of the day. That's the C o C I remember, majoring in the minors. They focused on obedience ( to the elders ) regular attendance, ( determined by the elders ), water baptism, the Holy Spirit supposedly has done nothing since the scripture was written because ' it ' is no longer needed today since we have the Bible I realize congregations are autonomous but all in our area taught this....

There’s those that are saved, and those that choose to be disciples. One is receiving the free gift, and the other is denying yourself/ what you will to do, to be equipped for service such as what the 12 did? What are your thoughts? Thank you

14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. James 2:14-24

That is not what take up thy "cross" and come follow me means. First everyone must know that the word cross is a mistranslation, and that HE had not yet even been hung from a cross (tree) It should say take up thy staff and come follow me. Meaning walk with HIM as HIS disciple, and feed HIS sheep. Just like here in Mark. Mark 6:8 kjv And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a "staff" only, no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse.

Nah brother... I think you missed it on this one. 1st century Judea was filled with Roman crosses. To a first century Jew (or Gentile, even) to think of a cross was to think of death. A cross wasn't a burden, a cross was excruciating, painful death. To be a Christian is to be as Christ, and to be as Christ, we must echo (daily) His passionate prayer of self denial: "Not my will, but yours be done." To be a Christian we must die to our flesh daily for the sake of living for Christ, or living in step with the Spirit. We are justified through faith in Christ and by His atoning work, this is certain, but Christ also calls us to lay down the desires of the flesh (Or crucify them Gal 5) as we replace them with Godliness. This is not a works based salvation, this is the doctrine of sanctification.

@sonofZeruiah, I didn't say "repentance" at 0:52, I said "turn from their sins". Repentance is a change of mind, it's a turning away from something or towards something. God repents more than anyone in the Bible, and it's without saying, He wasn't turning from "sins". Simply put, we don't turn from our sins to be forgiven of sins, we TURN TO JESUS WHO DIED FOR OUR SINS for forgiveness and eternal redemption.

Listen, if you want to find everlasting life you need to humble yourself and seek him with all your heart until he reveals himself to you, these videos are just going to get you into a LOT of trouble on judgement day if you don't stop and use your wisdom, it's ok because you don't know him yet, he will forgive you, especially since we are in these times we are in, deny yourself means just that, let the holy spirit be dominant, I know it's impossible to imagine what having a spirit is like so let me just explain it like this, your body is the hardware, your soul the software and the holy spirit becomes like the internet when you are hooked up, you recieve wisdom, love, knowledge and such... Then the spirit gets to be in charge of you, it's really easy because you'll fall in love with it, it's like a marriage, when you recieve the holy spirit you are in the faith, before that you are just a dead believer... The kingdom is a kingdom, it doesn't work like our world, you have to obey and take action, it's not like school or an office job or voting for a politician... Come to Jesus and recieve life and stop searching for an interpretation that will excuse you, it won't do.... Sell your riches and give the money to the poor and follow jesus

@@JasonJack believe on Jesus christ with all your HEART and thou shalt be saved, be born again (spiritually) and recieve the forgiveness of sin, you have been taught your whole life how to use your head and believe with your mind, the entire educational system is built upon using your mind and this is an intentional move of your adversary that rules this world... You need to find jesus for yourself and be led by him, and the only way to do that is to seek him with your heart and forget your own mind, the teachings of jesus are meant to shine a path for your heart to find him initially, then after you are born again from above you are a changed being and you will be able to follow him in spirit... When they say repent and believe the gospel it's referring to remorse over who you are, to change directions towards god from the world, it's only with humility and remorse you are able to find jesus for yourself and after you find him he will guide you, it's right there in the scriptures, you need to become born again... Faith is a gift from God that he gives you at his pleasure, just humble yourself and seek it and ask for it, I'm sure he will give you a way to move forward... Forgive everyone, trust no man, love your neighbour with all your heart and love God with all your heart, if you start doing this he will see that you are serious and won't turn you down, it varies how much time it takes before you recieve the gift of eternal life through the spirit, it depends on your walk and your heart, but don't give up..... And finally I just want to add that belief is not faith, faith is the gift from God you can't force him to give, you'll understand when you are in the faith... The path is narrow and FEW will find it, I just gave you an pretty good formula and a few steps to take to get closer to salvation, much love my friend and remember god is not in the bible, the bible describes people that walked in faith, their successes and failures, the book itself isn't the faith it's a guidemap on dos and donts with God, now .. repent of your ways and believe the gospel from the heart, it's supernatural

@@ossurgunnarsson4608 , God has blessed me with the forgiveness of sins and life eternal through faith in His Son. His faithfulness to His promise through His Son is where my trust resides. Simply put, a soul is passed from death unto life through the hearing of the gospel of Jesus Christ and, being persuaded of its eternal truth, believing this good news. The head-heart false dichotomy and any other twisting of what it means to believe the gospel is simply a symptom of disbelief in the sufficiency of Christ. You're preaching an accursed gospel. The gospel is the good news of what Christ did for us, not what we do for Him. We don't mix our blemished, spotted righteousness with the righteousness of the unblemished, spotless Lamb of God and expect our Heavenly Father to be impressed. I’m sorry but your teaching of this scripture is false. Jesus literally meant to deny worldly pleasures in exchange for persecution for His sake. No where in the New Testament will you find support for your interpretation. Faith produces great sacrifices in the hope of eternal life. YET without Jesus’ sacrifice, nothing we do will save our souls, even faith. That’s the Gospel. WE must exercise works by faith, and only by faith through the blood of Jesus, else our works are dead. Works are NOT invalidated by the Gospel like you are alluding to. Sorry to burst your bubble. Hebrews 11 destroys your take. ACTION is required.

@@JasonJack Ephesians 2:8-10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” You are confusing WORK FOR with WORK BY. There is nothing wrong with a lifetime of good works, Jesus exemplified that. Secondly, I don’t think you fully understand grace. Without Jesus’ sacrifice, it was IMPOSSIBLE for any man to earn eternal life, whether he did every good work in the book or not. That, through the blood, has changed. Not only will our good works be profitable (by faith), but our very minds will be transformed so that sin doesn’t reign in our lives. Does that mean we’ll never sin? No. We have an advocate who judges our hearts and can defend us from our accuser. But, but, but… grace is not a license to remain exactly who we were with the excuse of the Gospel. That makes that person a liar and false- two terms used in the New Testament to describe fake converts. You are confusing people with a simplistic understanding of works. It’s common sense… repent, believe, be changed, and continue to walk by faith. And that will naturally produce good works in and through you. I challenge you to prove me wrong, I’ll bombard you with scripture proving every line I just wrote, sir.
