Congratulations on your 50th episode. I discovered you guys during lockdown and you kept me going with your knowledge, humor, and of course dolls! I love your replica doll house and I love your Mattel furniture in their original boxes. I love your backdrop with additional Mattel furniture and did I see a Misty doll in the background on your shelf. I love the Vogue Jill that you pulled out. She is a cutie.

Great work, guys! I've been collecting dolls and toys since the '70s and worked at a design museum for 16 years. I am so glad you did your research and displayed the furniture with 10-1/2" dolls. Even though the Scandinavians designed a lot of this style of furniture, there were many American designers that put it on the map in the US. The Handler's had made their European trip in 1956. I think it could be fair to assume that they were exposed to Scandinavian designs. However, Charles and Rae Eames, Alexander Girard, and the mobile artist Alexander Calder were leaders of the modern design and arts scene since the 40s. Eames furniture is still manufactured in the Midwest. My understanding is that Mattel started as a picture frame design firm. The story goes that they made these pieces to use up scraps of wood. The toys outsold the frames and, allegedly, this was the beginning of Mattel as a toy manufacturer. If you haven't heard of them, look up Strombecker doll furniture. It was wooden doll furniture made in Moline, Illinois. It was made around the 1940s and 50s. Slightly bigger than the Mattel line, its scale is better for Barbie. It's hard to find pieces because most collectors won't part with them once they acquire them. I have one chair, which I found by chance in a thrift shop. I apologize for running on like this. It's been a long time since I referenced this info, I had to double-check some details. Also, I've reached the stage as a collector that I must liquidate. I need my life back! Still love being a collector. I just want to be a sane one. Thanks again! Good job!

Great job recreating the structure in the commercial! Interesting how Mattel never produced it, this furniture is so rare oh my gosh, and perfect condition can't believe this!

Thank you! I have really missed your videos! I have this buffet in one of my Barbie scenes, and it looks great! (I had the Christmas Story leg lamp on it, but the granddaughter swiped it🙂) "Back in the day," this Danish modern style was built close to the floor. So, even though these were created for smaller dolls, the close to the floor styling is perfect (IMO) for Barbie❤️

Wow! I have no words. I knew that ruth handler and her husband made doll furniture before they issued barbie but I had never seen any of it before. This is simply amazing and thank you so much for sharing it with us.

recently found your channel and you guys do an awesome job! I grew up with furniture like that! I have collected barbies since I was 4 years old, so all my dolls are 60's until mainly the 70's. I do have some 80's dolls but mod era are my faves.
