    I accidentally purchased matte finish. I was going to return it but I absolutely LOVE LOVE this look. I am keeping and going to try. May I ask, why did start with the brite tone gloss? Could you have just did Matte to start, to save time, and product? I have yet to use brite tone period, so Just wondering if the brite tone layers you did before the matte layers are essential. Thank you!

    I think when I first started using it… Matte might’ve been a little bit more expensive than just the gloss. And I guess honestly, I started with the glass layers just to save product. It’s been so long now I don’t remember and I haven’t been able to make tumblers in quite some time. I’m dying to use the grand finale! I’m so glad you’re pleased with it all! Crystalac’s products literally are the best!

    Hi!! Love this! What is level sand? And how long do you think the clear brite tone and matte brite tone takes per tumbler? I need to make 17 by the end of march.

  • @karenbaskettdiyer

    @karenbaskettdiyer

    Thank so much! A level sand is basically taking the peaks off of the high points. So if you were to take a sanding block and lay it flat on the tumbler and just gently sand it would only hit the high points. Then when you add your next layers of Brite Tone it allows the layers to catch up to level. I hope that all makes sense. I demonstrate level sanding in several of my videos. Cranking out 17 tumblers can be a challenge in that time frame. It really depends on how many turners you have and how much time you have to spend per day on them. I have 6 turners and I work from home so I can apply a new layer every 4 hours.. (I can do 4 or 5 layers on a cup in one day.) After one hour of dry time I can remove them from the turner and stick another tumbler on the turner. SO it's hard to say... if you work outside of the home your Brite Tone Application time might be different..like I said I can do 4 layers per tumbler each day but you may only be able to get 2 layers on per day. I really appreciate you watching and hope you find this info helpful! :)

It usually is so it just might be temporarily unavailable. Keep checking back with them. The matte is wonderful and I don't make enough matte tumblers! Thanks for watching!

    You have to click on the gloss listing on the crystalac site. When you click on it, you get the option at the bottom below the size to choose gloss, satin or matte. It doesn't have it's own listing anymore.

  • @karenbaskettdiyer

    You would need to sand your epoxy first then apply several coats of the Crystalac matte finish allowing 4 hours of dry time between each layer. You would then need to allow a full cure time if 30 days before washing or using.
