Love that this is a design that can be created on the shortest of nails to the longest of nails. I have to keep my nails cut super short for work & most designs won't fit my small nail beds. But even so, I love every video you post for longs nails - your design work is fascinating to watch!

I love, love, LOVE a matte chrome look! I especially like doing this with a system like Joya Mia's Aluminix system, which uses a liquid chrome gel polish with a jelly color gel on top. It gives it a little more depth, it doesn't do funky things like matte topcoat sometimes does when put directly on chrome powder, and it looks just like velvet. Gorgeous!

Love this look! I've been putting matte on top of my glitters & duochromes & metallic finishes for years because it's just such a cool look. It's like cameraman said - it's a little sophisticated. Sounds like a stupid question but how do people use the topcoat with out the pigment / chrome transferring

No need to top coat the accent polish on top of the matte?

What is the difference between regular matte and the velvet matte? Do you need to use a non wipe top coat when using chrome and is it better to apply the chrome as soon as the nail comes out of the lamp (while it's still warm) or can you do several nails at a time.

Velvet has texture to it. It works with base as well, just don't remove the sticky layer.

Yes, you need a non-wipe topcoat to use the chrome powders, and your instincts are correct! You _should_ apply them when the nail first comes out of the lamp, while it's just a tiny bit tacky still. I only work on myself, and I only do one chrome nail at a time because I'm not sure I'm fast enough with burnishing the chrome powders in to get five nails before they lose their tackiness. Maybe try for two or three and see if that works?

What about a steampunk copper corrosion pattern using these pigments

All I can tell you is watch videos of non-dominant hand work and follow their tips. Most of it will be backwards for you, but you'll still learn the tips, like holding your non-dominant hand (the right in your case) still and moving the dominant hand to the brushes.

I tried the matte on my red chrome looks bloody gorgeous but a couple of days later it chipped what did I do wrong 😱 x

If I use chrome powder I like to use a regular glossy no wipe topcoat, cure it, buff it a little, and THEN put the matte top coat on. I just find it stays a bit better

It could be that you haven't prepped the nails properly or the gel hasn't been fully cured, check out some of our other videos on applying gel polish and you should find the answer there hopefully
