Georgia are back to back defending national champs who missed the playoffs (and let’s be real a 3rd natty in 3 years) by 3 points. Yet they showed up and played. If this game was beneath anyone, it’s Georgia, not FSU. There is no excuse to lose by 60 POINTS in a bowl game, especially a New Year’s 6 bowl game. Bama was in a similar position last year where they didn’t make the playoffs, but guess what? All of their players including #1 draft pick Bryce Young played in their “meaningless” bowl game. Just absolutely pathetic from FSU from all standpoints especially the coping/excuses. I know the committee is sitting there quoting Dennis Green: “they are who we thought they were”

The committee doesn't want two SEC teams in the CFP because 2 don't deserve to be there. How can anyone claim that 2 SEC teams deserve a spot. Michigan-undefeated, Washington-undefeated in the strongest conf. in 2023, Texas- 1 loss but win over SEC Champ. If the SEC is so great and dominant, why not play 9 conference games and more than 4 true road games? Alabama, Georgia, Missouri, and Ole Miss (all of the 10 win teams) played 8 conference games, with a total of 7 home games, and 5 road games, with Georgia having one of those 5 road games as a "neutral site game". The SEC inflates their stats by not playing tough opponents in tough environments, like a pack of cowards. The Pac-12, Big-12, ACC, and B1G have all done 9 conference games. It's funny that SEC has produced so many top ten teams while playing 1 less conference game than everyone else. Play on a level playing field before claiming dominance.

This was a perfect example of a football program vs a football team. The NIL and portal showed its true colors in this game. Depth matters, coaching matters, recruiting matters, and again DEPTH MATTERS. That will be the focal point of powerhouse teams, 5 stars matter, but the amount of 4 and 3 stars will matter more now and future than ever before. Developing future talent matters. The 20 plus portal players from UGA would have all started tonight for FSU. Enough said, And hopefully Norvel took notes. P.S. UGA also flipped you top recruit on signing day. They owned FSU.

Texas would have still been in the CFPs after their convincing win in the BIG XII Championship. FSU struggled offensively against Louisville.

As an OSU fan, after the cotton bowl I assumed we had the most embarassing loss of the weekend. Boy was I wrong….

And just to clarify, uga was down 23 players (19 portal, 4 hurt) and didn’t make excuses. ALSO uga played their 3-4th string the entire second half and scored 21 unanswered points with freshman. Fsu never stood a chance, full strength or not. These excuses I’ve seen from fsu fans have been nothing short of DISGUSTING🤦🏾‍♂️

None of you gave a fuck or had this same energy when mizzou lost its best offensive player in 2022 to UGA in the portal before their bowl game practices. Nobody gave a fuck. Thank you!! I remember when we were raked over the coals after losing the 2018 SEC Championship Game. Coach Smart ranted about "ask them if they wanna play us again." Coach Smart was essentially told "you gotta win your conference championship game." We played Texas in our bowl game, lost by 7 (because we didn't want to be there), and got blasted for it. Now, when the tables are turned, we can't be excited about winning because FSU didn't want to be there? Even with their full slate of players, UGA still would have won 49-17. Not only did we have players opt out, we also had coaches missing! Let us celebrate the same way you would have celebrated had you won the game.

There was a game to be played so it meant something to us!! Go Dawgs!!

⁠​⁠@@michaelshawusa1idk why people are still saying this. it’s especially aggravating when it comes from my fellow georgia fans. washington isn’t the worst team in the playoff this year. surprise surprise, it’s michigan. been extremely overrated all year, just like last year. entirely one dimensional and defense hasn’t been tested all year. their only legitimate opponent this year was osu, and if osu had a qb that could read a defense better than mccord (pretty much any d1 qb) then they would have had a 50 piece dropped on em. osu had players running wide open the entirety of that game. all michigan wants to do is control the flow of the game and run the football. it works against those sorry teams they play in the big 10, but it will not work against playoff-caliber competition. unless michigan significantly has significantly improved during this off-time, they’re going to get embarrassed first round. we are obviously better than washington, but we’d have a tougher time with them than we would michigan.

I picked 63-0. Almost hit it on the nose.

Matt’s right, if FSU won no one would ever hear the end of it, but they get blown out in legendary fashion and it doesn’t matter because their top guys were injured or chose not to play…Every team outside of the playoff had multiple guys injured or opting out…With those guys playing it certainly would’ve been closer but Georgia still would’ve beaten them significantly…

Because we have a disgustingly toxic fanbase that pretty much was downing them for half the season and hardly showed any support if they were down in a game. It rubs off on a teams players much more than one may realize. Also if you, especially as a fanbase drive the narratives of "Bowls don't matter" & "Season no longer matters" & get enough people to do it with you too, chances are you'll be able to convince whoever you're trying to tell it to. Our fans were already sitting down and not cheering after only 7-0! I knew we were screwed then when I saw it in the stands. It used to never be like that, then Willie came along!

@@bs431980 but yes I do agree. That's why even when it was a hopeless battle I still held hope and pulled for our guys to win it because the Orange Bowl & beating 2-Time Champ UGA would've been huge. Especially if our scouts pulled a miracle rabbit out the hat.

As a Georgia fan, I felt that Brock Glenn showed a lot of promise despite the outcome. He put a lot of throws were only his guy could make a play, and he made good decisions for most of the game. I would like for him to get his chance as the starter, but you never know with the transfer portal.

Kirbys take on it after the game was the most honest and respectful take I've heard.

It was absolutely embarrassing!!! And you’re right, in the earliest parts of the game it looked like it was gonna be a game (I had hope, lol). But before the end of 2nd quarter, it was clear this was gonna be a drubbing. I still went to an Atlanta bar and picked up my food in FSU swag. I don’t have excuses for that performance. I also said opt outs are gonna be a factor before the game started and I didn’t expect us to win, but I was not the majority.

FSU should have went out the back door at half time.

Actually, UGA only had 2 official opt outs (among NFL draftable players) and both those dudes were still recovering from serious ankle injuries. The question should be why UGA's players seem to care about the game, their university, and playing for each other vs most other programs and the their approach to non-playoff bowl games.

Honestly kinda sad a bunch of those players (some just sat for NFL draft prep) quit on FSU beacuse they didnt get their way. Goes for any team including GA.

I'm a Georgia fan and I still believe that FSU deserved to be in the playoff just like TCU last year. Afterall, we win to win it all. This terrible loss really doesn't negate that. Anyone that disagrees is really buying into rhetoric that this system has always been fair, when in reality, its has alway been about winning a bidding war foŕ television revenue.

Atleast 8 or 9 they are ready for the sec they beat Texas they always beat Texas they will be just fine all they have to worry about is bama Georgia and maybe lsu. Their going deep into the playoffs next year the sec has not been dominant like it usually is

As an FSU fan we got embarrassed. UGA starters vs FSU and even then we got whooped. If our starters played I imagine we lose to Georgia in a 10 point game. If our optouts lost like 30-3 even then this might be a decent game with starters. Still think this team will be back next year. Playing Georgia in your first game as a backup is still great experience. #Mattneedsdreadlocks. Also im really upset that people mention that fsu has a culture problem, Mike Norvell says nearly every opt out meeting in coach and player crying and hugging. That sounds like players didnt quit to him.

I didn't realize it but Georgia had 25 players that were either in the transfer portal or opted out Florida state had like 29 so I'm pretty sure Florida State just quit and if I was a college recruit I would not want to go to the Seminoles to play college
