I was sold on the first episode 'The Eleventh Hour' when Matt popped his head out of the upturned TARDIS & started conversing with little Amelia Pond. His comedy prowess, from bumping into the tree to the food rejecting scene, is just spot on & convinced me immediately. He's by far my favourite Doctor, & I'm so glad the casting crew went with their instincts. They were so right to! LOVE HIM.

already half-sold by the time he squeaked "hair? I'M A GIRL" after the regeneration.. but yes Eleventh Hour convinced me completely, since the beginning. and not to mention the super cool badass atraxi speech at the end!

I will miss Matt so hard.Everyone got his own doctor and i'm sure that for some people Matt was they'r.Every Doctor got something special and i think it's impossible to got him wrong.Every actor makes his own doctor and that's one of the most beautiful things about this show.Every doctor got his own generation,and i'm proud to be part of Matt's generation.I can't wait to see Capaldi as the new doctor and i'm sure it's gonna be awesome because at the end,every doctor is something special ;)

I have watched most of the episodes from Classic Who that are on Netflix and all the ones from New Who and I believe every Doctor is brilliant in their own ways and it's such a waste of time to keep comparing and hating them! Just sit back and enjoy the show whether the Doctor your watching at that moment is your favorite or not. :)

You know, I am a HUGE Tennant fan!!!! I think he was the best Doctor ever!!!And I hated to see him go,I thought nobody could replace him,and I won't watch anymore Doctor Who because David wasn't in it..... But you know what? As I watched Matt as the Doctor,I have no idea how,he sneaked into my heart without me knowing and made a place for himself..:) And when I finished season 7,I cried thinking that Matt is gonna leave too...Matt is adorable too.Yes,he's not David,but he doesn't need to be...:)

Yes! The Atraxi speech is perfectly rousing. 'The Eleventh Hour' has to be one of my all time fave episodes. I'll miss him. None of the names mentioned for the new Doctor, have particularly grabbed me. I remember when I first heard Matt's name as the possible 11th, I was so excited because I had just watched him in the BBC series 'Party Animals', so had seen how brilliant an actor he was. I hope he is a success in Hollywood. Ryan Gosling's directing debut better be a critically acclaimed hit!

This is like exactly my story!!! BF got me into the show, and his fav is David. David's great, but Matt is MY doctor :)

Isn't it ironic though that even though he didn't get Doctor Watson he's still Doctor? XD and i told my mom when i heard about that, "I just can't imagine him as a sidekick! he's too good for a leading role." :)

I'm so glad he's the Doctor! Matt Smith is my favorite Doctor! And yes, I am Canadian and no, I'm not biased my first Doctor was David Tennant, now if I only I was allowed to glomp them.......

me exactly love. I had to realize around the end of Season 6 beginning of Season 7 that Matt snuck his way in. I was and am going to miss him He found a way to just be himself and make it work. He was well played. No Tennant but definitely the Doctor all the same. Can't wait to see who they get next xD

Ah, now I'm with you. Yes, Matt is a kind of Holmes-y - but not "dark" enough, if you know what I mean. But, as already mentioned, I'm absolutely happy with the roles as they are now. Waiting for Sherlock's season 3...

Fun fact: Matt auditoned for the role of Dr Watson in Sherlock a week before the Dr Who auditions. Moffat and Gatiss turned him down on the basis he was more of a Holmes. Little did the know...

I can't imagine how embarrassed and honored Matt would be if that was the first time hearing that.

Actually I absolutely adore the Moffat/Gatiss decision: Smith is hilarious as the Doctor. Freeman is amazing as Watson. And Cumberbatch is brilliant as Sherlock. So all is as it should be.

How did I get here from looking for "David Tennant audition doctor who" o.o... well I can't say much on Matt... having just finished Tennant's arc and only 5 episodes into Matt's *tear* I will say... I'm doin my best to give smith the benefit of the doubt and continue progressing through the story of the doctor even with all the rage faults I keep finding of Smith and the pangs of not seeing my Tennant any longer... but he definitely has a different and unique approach I'll give Smith that :P

This happened to me (almost) my boyfriend was making a Tardis piñata in Spanish class and I was like "Whats that?" and he was like "Its the tardis from Doctor Who." Then I said "Whats that." He looked at me like i was crazy and then after a few minutes he explained it to me and i told him I was going to google it. Now I am Huge Fan.

how'd you know she hasnt watched them?? in fact from her comment i would assume she has, given that her friend first recommended Tennant. and for me personally, i think matt is actually a better actor than david, i think david overacts a bit while matt's acting is just really genuine and relatable.

Sorry for answering four years later...😂 It's really hard to speak in front of all these people. You know, you are celebrity, and you must have in control every word you say, because you don't want to find out something bad in newspapers or TV. Some of celebrities are really shy too and don't like to speak in front of these people.

Oh how can you say that he's the 'BEST DOCTOR EVER' if you haven't even seen any other doctors? I seriously cannot decide between David Tennant and Matt Smith. David Tennant's acting is definitely much better than Matt's as he has loads more experience. But Matt is a also brilliant in playing this role as the Doctor in his own way. My advice, watch season/series 2, 3 and 4. Tennant is absolutely brilliant.

I can't believe all shit about Matt Smith being the best?. When David Mac Donald Tennant was leaving, you all cried and said best Doctor ever. Then how Matt was shit, which he was and still is. Doctor Who has became a childs TV programme the way he plays it. Peter Capaldi is the new Doctor come Christmas Day 2013. He is a real actor with years of Films and experience. He will be the BEST Doctor EVER. Not because of shallow opinions based on looks, but simply because the man is a great actor.
