I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.

Nice video, been learning about outriggers and downriggers. Came across your video was wondering if one has an outrigger on his boat if he could use it as a downrigger. My understanding is outriggers are to space out more lines and troll more top water. Where as downriggers have downrigger 8,10,12lb weight and are more for getting line down deep rather then spaced out top water fishing. Was curious if you can uses downrigger weights to make outriggers into bigger spaced out downriggers?

Hi Matt , great video. Trying to set up my 6 mtr fibreglass boat. New to marlin fishing , yet to catch one . Like many other inspiring fishos I’m busy setting up all the gear and trying to do the basics right. My outriggers came with roller trollers, in your video you made mention that you don’t like them as a brake away option for trolling lures , you mentioned that you preferred the blacks clip instead . Do I need to change to the blacks clips for trolling lures? Please can you tell me why roller troller is not your preference. Much appreciated your feedback. Cheers

I didn't understand the system for connecting a possible teaser to be recovered to the AFTCO roller.

Or maybe outriggers and downriggers are completely to different pieces of equipment with similar release clips just one is a shorter shaft with heavy weight vs the longer outrigger pole shaft with no weight. Either way it seems like one can convert an outrigger or downrigger into the other with minimal effort. Just wondering if there made customizable to be used for both types out and down. Or if you usually have to buy one for each purpose?
