@@bruno10505 It has nothing to do with views. It's just recognition in general, people think the cover of his song is the original because that's the only version they almost always hear. I literally only figured out the original song was by matt maltese BECAUSE of the cover. They're both great in their own ways of course and i get 'personal preference' is a thing, but there is no way in hell a cover should be getting more attention than the actual song. It's sad that it even happens.

This song is wonderful dude, truly iconic. And bro all the Devil Man Crybaby comments are hitting hard, definitely fits the anime pretty damn well. Had the same affect as Mr. Loverman with Banana Fish. In all seriousness, this song is perfect for end scene credits.

I love this song

The fact that Akira was in love with someone else the whole time just to have her die made me upset. But what made it worse is that ryo finally confessed his love for akira just for him to be dead at that very moment.

I remember where I was when I discovered this song. It was 2017, I was listening to my local NPR station since my phone died, and Matt was giving an interview with them to explain his inspiration for the song before it played. It was one hell of a time for basically anyone left of center realizing that all of our institutions were under siege and the pretty picture of the world was crumbling around us. I was at the point in my drive where I was going past my old elementary school and best friend's old house, and right around when the chorus swelled, I broke down. It was so beautiful, and I couldn't stop listening for over a year. It had maybe 10k views on KZread at the time. I'm so glad it's getting the recognition it deserves. A modern masterwork.

I've only just noticed the harmonies that come in during the chorus of the song...god, it's so faint, but so lovely. Got me blasting my headphones and making myself go deaf just to hear 'em. Thanks for sharing this.
