Pure drum essence. Such a pleasure to witness one of the greatest hitting the garsfcuk out of the drums. 🙏
The drum tech needs massive props on this setup. So sooooo tight!
I’m convinced this guy is one of the best drummers alive right now. Holy guacamole! Matt, you are a true master of your craft and I can’t wait to see you live.
I usually see youtube videos over 15-20 min and never wanna sit there and watch.. An hour and half of Matt? Count me in.
PLEASE NEVER TAKE THIS DOWN MATT. The amount I've learned just by watching this entire set once is crazy. Thanks a lot for this
When I look at his hair and beard and I listen to his drumming... We lost Bonham, but we still have Garstka!
I guarantee you 90% of the fans in the crowd have no idea what a talent Matt is. I know they respect and love the sounds and rhythms he creates but he is on another level and makes it look so easy. The coordination and precision is insane! Although I was happy to hear some guys scream out that they love Matt at the intro of a song haha

I think that people that are into this kind of music are most likely musicians themselves, or at least artists of some sort, so I think they are hip to the level of musicianship and hard work all of the members have put into their respective instruments. But, I think the spirit of your post is true in the sense that Matt (as well as the other members) is beyond amazing and most of what Matt is doing is beyond the full understanding of most people (including most musicians) because he is that advanced and has put that much thought into each song and drum part, etc... Hopefully that made sense. I am just grateful to see so many people appreciating this kind of music. I have spent a lot of time feeling disheartened at the attention and accolades that certain pop musicians get for churning out awful one-dimensional songs, so to see a band like this getting the attention they deserve and to see how respectful and thoughtful all of the comments have been for their videos has given me some faith in humanity. Also, just wanted to add, that sometimes Matt makes it look easy, but other times he makes it look super hard because you can see him putting every ounce of energy and focus into keeping it from spiraling out of control, which I appreciate. I can see that he spends a lot of time riding that fine line between being in control and stretching his limit for growth. Super impressed by this band and this drummer. He makes me want to quit and practice more at the same time.

Careful what you wish for! Don't say that when there's a genie around! lol
Nothing against any of these musicians at all, but I vastly prefer listening to this versus the studio recorded material. It is a result of what is expected from the genre, but I love that I can actually FEEL and HEAR what Matt sounds like. All of the dynamics and beautiful touch. The studios often strip a lot of that away from these types of bands. That's not to say that the level of production on the records isn't impeccable, I just wish modern metal and rock production allowed the true sound and deft of touch of the musicians come through. Incredible stuff!
Ain't gonna lie, he's been killing it on the drums for the past decade or so and is by far my favorite drummer from this era.
I'm not the biggest AAL fan, but watching Matt play is just awesome. That drum kit sounds absolutely fucking unreal as well
1:10:08 is one of my favorite fills of all time. So damn clean.
59:12 The synchronization and precision of Javier's headbanging with Matt's cymbal bashing and cracking backbeat is insane.
My man you are just dreamwalking through different dimensions of time when you play
I really want to see Red Miso live!
Even outside of this video (which is obviously drum-centric), Matt really seems to be stealing the show. This latest album is the icing to that cake - he deserves all the love and attention! I say this as a lifelong guitarist and gigafan of Tosin & Javier

Can't get much better than this, man.
i can't even picture being able to *remember* an hour plus of these arrangements, never mind being able to execute them. i have played music for over half my life, and it has been my only profession for the last 12 years, and if you gave me a decade to prepare and the lives of the 5 people I care about the most were on the line, i still can't imagine i could replicate even 10 minutes of this show on any of the instruments played by any member of this band. you might as well challenge me to learn advanced calculus using only a textbook written entirely in sanskrit, written by a guy with terrible handwriting, who wrote it standing outside in a rainstorm
