Matt Carpenter is THE BEST HR Hitter since Barry Bonds
Спорт
Matt Carpenter was out of baseball after 2021. The Cardinals declined his team option, and he was pondering retirement. But one phone call with Joey Votto changed his outlook and sent him on a journey...
With the Yankees, Matt Carpenter is the Best HR Hitter since Barry Bonds.
This article by Ken Rosenthal was the inspiration for this video, it's a great read, so make sure to check it out:

Also, when I say the Yankees are the best team in baseball ... they were when I wrote this ~3 weeks ago. So don't yell at me.

How did he do in the Postseason 😂
I’m so happy for the guy. He’s made almost 9 figures playing the game and only now has he become an absolute crusher. He put up 2.4 war in 47 games….almost purely offensively😮
Always like Matt because he doesn't wear batting gloves...that old school badass lol

I haven’t finished watching this video but I hope you see this. I can see the Dorktown/Chart Party by Secret Base influence as soon as I started this with the intro. This is the second video i’ve seen of yours as well as the 20 Ks game with Scherzer being the first. I say this to say flawless video, man, this is the pinnacle of writing and visualizing how great these athletes are. I wish you good luck in the future with whatever other ideas you got.
So excited now that he’s joined the Padres. Time to finally take them all the way!
Coming off a predraft injury in ‘09, I spent 3 days with Wallenbrock before a workout with the A’s and it was home run derby. Workouts consisted of VCRs, sawed off bats, whiffle golf balls, and towels. Konerko and Helton were there that week as well. What a legend.
Just found your channel. Amazing video. Great editing.
Love the Jon Bois vibes but what really sealed the deal was looking over offensive stats with Baker Street in the background. Peak content

Padres fan here, Carpenter is becoming one of my favorite Padres players and he is currently leading the team in SLG, OPS and RBI, I wish he could play everyday but his defensive skills are an issue, I believe that in the future Carpenter will start most of the games at 1B because of the slow start the padres offense had, and they are eventually going to bench Ha-Seong Kim. Idk why I feel like the only Padres fan that is super high in Carpenter, he literally led the MLB last year in SLG and OPS.

Hey man, love the videos and have subscribed. Super excited to see what you do in the future. One thing I’ve been feeling and wanted to share. It really rubs me the wrong way how aesthetically similar a lot of these are to Jon Bois’ work. Same fonts, same music, same cinematography style. It feels more like a copy than an inspiration, especially considering that you monetize these videos. You clearly have some serious skill and I would love to see your personal style shine through. Just a thought. Keep up the great work my dude.

If he’s able to swing a bat at 75% of his pre-injury level, the yanks need to find a way to get him in the lineup

Padres got a guy who will pay dividends this season.
How he did it is being in that juiced lineup. Plain and simple. He will have a hell of a drop off next season. Just like he had before this season. But still impressive.
@AndThatsBaseball

The underlying stats don’t indicate a drop off. He’s lifting the ball, hitting it harder than ever, and his whiff rate is under control. He’s a really good hitter right now.

@@AndThatsBaseball One season of being injured but hitting a few home runs doesn't make a player great
Happy for him to get a bit more success in the big leagues, but that did not prove he was the best HR hitter since Bonds.....or are we arguing that Shane Spencer was the greatest HR hitter of all time due to his first taste of the show when he hit 10 HR in only 73 PA, Bonds never had a rate like that in a season. Of course, he then went on to hit less than 50 more homers in the rest of his career, so was he the greatest and just ended up having a cold streak for the rest of his career, or was his first season just one of those things? Your video's title is clickbait. Your argument is not supported with enough evidence to validate your statements. The 2023 season, and the years immediately preceding 2022 are strong, strong evidence that he is not in fact the greatest home run hitter since Barry Bonds. Phil Clark hit .407 in 61 plate appearances in 1992, is that proof that he was the best hitter for average since Ted Williams? John Paciorek went 3-3 with 2 walks in 1963, does that make him the greatest hitter of all-time, I mean, he literally never made an out in the major leagues, how can you do any better than getting on base every single time you come to the plate? In the end Carpenter is a guy who had a hot streak, good for him. The fact that he happened to hit a number of homers in a very small sample size proves nothing....other than he hit a bunch of homers in a small sample size.
Did you really have to rip off Jon Bois & team's style that blatantly? All the way down to the jazz music even?

Jon is the biggest inspiration of mine. I figure that he’s no longer covering such mundane topics, so as I try and get better and search for my identity as a creator, making a product that reflects his early work is a good place to start. Plus Gerry Rafferty is a fantastic and well-known musician in his own right.
