On the clippers yea not for the lakers he was ok his defense was ok he was never locking nothing up lol, he did do good passing on the lakers thats about it, attacking the basket he was ok at that all he use to do was fake like he gonna dunk and scoop lay up left hand same move every time or a dunk every now and then, shit Shawn Marion was a better role player and defender than him . Odom wasn’t that critical why you think he was on the trade block for Chris Paul. Odom was so inconsistent good one game trash the next 5 then good again when Paul gasol got there it help Odom a lot because he wasn’t ask to score anymore or guard the bigs that helped him out a lot then he started to be consistent at playing defense and passing because we didn’t need him to try to be #2 all the proof is in the pudding go watch that 2006 season all the way to the playoffs when they played the suns when we was up 3-1 what Odom did that year lol you have to watch the games not the stats.

More than a roleplayer. A star who sacrificed like Kevin McHale, Manu, and others. He was elite. Definitely a step above a roleplayer he coulda started on pretty much any other team in the NBA at that time.

I agree bro. Lamar Odom Clipper jersey was the first NBA jersey I ever had and was the first live nba game I ever went too. A lot of people forget how good he was with the Clippers early on his career since he took a 6th man role when he got to the lakers. Even in his younger years that mid range elbow jumper was automatic

That veto fcked over the lakers immesly. Everyone brings up not getting those players but like Barnes said retaining those player they almost traded really fcked them. Odom was all in his feelings after that trade and requested a trade but nobody brings up Pau…He was professional but he was constantly in trade discussions after that and I think that more than anything messed w/ him during those final yrs as a laker. After he left the laker for Chicago I saw a totally different pau than the one the lakers had for those final 4 seasons.

I never get why Lakers didn't go for that Rockets package for Gasol? Dragic -Martin - Kobe - Scola - Bynum as starters and Blake, Fisher, Artest, Barnes and whoever you can get for Lamar for frontcourt depth would be a great core. Bynum was ready to be the 2nd option plus Martin and Dragic would bring that much needed spacing with their shooting.

It's so true. Media wanted Pau out so bad he was so defeated. Kobe when he was injured in 2014 demanded that he get the ball since they tried to run the offense through Dwight when Kobe was out. Getting Dwight didn't work they were supposed to have CP3 and Bynum and that would worked. Instead they got rid of Bynum he fell off. Odom got his feelings hurt and fell off. Pau stuck it out while he became a third option and the front office and media constantly took shots at him. Went to our Bulls and honestly had one of the best seasons of his career I thought. He had a lot left to give.

Old injured CP3 had the Durant Steph Warriors beat with Harden doing little. Prime CP3 with Pre-achilles Kobe and all the support players that would have come? That's at least two chips. CP3 is a 1 level player like Kobe. Pau was a 2 at his best and 3 by that time. Pau at that time did nothing special with the Bulls or Spurs. I loved Pau as a Laker but he only shined that bright because of Kobe.

Old injured CP3 on the Rockets had the Durant Curry warriors beat with Harden doing little. If he didn't go down to injury he would have finished them. You don't realize how good prime CP3 was. He would have been a perfect fit for pre Achilles Kobe who could still turn it up when needed.

So many what ifs: what if Phil coached that Dwight Kobe team. Could he have Jedi mind tricked them into figuring it out? And then like Prime Chris Paul and 85% of prime Kobe could have been ungodly. Kobe as a mid range run off picks catch and shooter would have been fucked. Also a completely unrelated, but what if they retained Trevor Ariza. He was so good for them. Would have been cool to see how his career is different. Also healthy Bynum would have been nice

The trade was vetoed because the league was operating business for new Orleans at the time and other owners didn't think it was fair that a team ran by the league was giving the Lakers a star player out of favoritism.... Imagine how every other fan base felt when a team ran by the league gives their best player to the most popular and successful team....felt like collusion

The New Orleans Hornets didn’t have a owner at the time so they were owned by all 30 teams in the league, for a trade to go through, it would have to be approved by all the owners, owners like Dan Gilbert and Michael Jordan voted against it after that shit that happened with Miami so the trade got vetoed, David Stern didn’t stop the trade to hurt Kobe

Common Matt, Pjax didn't anounced that hegot health problems in April of 2011 and won't be back. It was Jim Buzz told the Lakers team that no matter what the outcome of the playoffs Pjax will not return. Grrat way to deflate a team mentally. In 2012 of November same person chose D ant over Phil. Thats because Jim took over when Dr. BUSS DIEd. That lead to Kobe's dragging the Lakers to.the playoffs and destroyed his body in the process. Pjax said in his 2011 exit interview, this is tbe first time thay I coached a team who don't know how to adjust at all.

These CP3 stories are hogwash. The biggest concern for small franchises is losing their players to bigger, coastal franchises. The NBA is all the owners together. It has nothing to do with Kobe. The NBA is NOLA and Milwaukee, and Toronto, etc. Why would they want such a lopsided trade, unless it was going from the coast to them? If they allow CP3 to move like that, how would they keep other stars from forcing trades as well?
