    you do realize that Sanchez only started one year in college football (that being the reason Pete Carroll telling him to stay and he wasn't ready) While Barkley has started all 4 years and has a stronger and more accurate arm.

    I watched Marqise Lee throughout his college career and he had moves better than OBJ. He can juke guys and make them miss in open space like nothing. He's a little taller than OBJ as well. Marqise is even better than the current WR star at USC right now, JuJu Smith Schuster when you factor in play making ability after the catch. Marqise has incredible break out speed after the catch that is unmatched. Considered what I've mentioned above, I'm not sure why his NFL career didn't blossom like OBJ did. One guess is it has to do a lot with the coaching style and trust. The coach doesn't play him enough. Had he been in a different system, like a New Orleans with gun-ho Drew Brees he would have evolved into an OBJ type player, no doubt about it. He has all the skills set to achieve that.

    You forgot Patrick Turner, David Ausberry and Fred Davis but he was switched to TE and became an All-American. But yeah you can see LK has his paws and his sights set on a new era in SC recruiting !!! Fight On !!!

    He looks a lot better here on route passes than in some of his other games. Checks off one of my concerns heading into the 2012 season. Question is whether he'll be the #1 or #2 QB in the 2013 draft....

    #9 Lee is going to be a beast one day and I think he's just a freshman.

  • @adwnpinoy
    @adwnpinoy12 жыл бұрын

    Certainly that is the way it played out. Part of that is due to Lee shining in camp before his freshman year and some of the big receivers not living up to their potential. But overall, looking at this recruiting classes (more sub-6' explosive guys than 6'3"+ guys), you're right about LFKB changing with the times.

  • @adwnpinoy

    I think the better argument is that Luck had a really good power run game to soften up Defenses.

    More a testament to Luck than a dig at Barkley really. Barkley is still a great, great QB.

    I don't think it particularly matters which school players decide to attend, only that they impress on the field. There have been big players that came from obscure schools.

    I think Leinart got a bum deal in AZ. He looked great before his injury, but then they went all-in on Warner. That kills a guy's confidence. To a QB, confidence is everything.

    i believe lane kiffen has changed the style of usc receiver from big receiver to quick and explosive. marquise lee and right woods changed the usc style receiver if you look at the 2013 recruiting class it more 6'1 6"2 speed explosive guy rather than the mike williams, dwayne jarret types from pete carrol area.

    Probably because SC runs so many different routes and route combos than Stanford does with their run based offense. Stanford ran a ton of downfield and crossing routes with their big TE's because they could and it fits into what they do best, pound, pound and pound again then catch you sleeping with the play action and naked bootlegs. SC however uses alot of bubble screens, out & ups, comeback routes, and hitches.

    Barkley can sling it every bit as good as Luck. The difference is that Barkley doesn't have near the targets that Luck has.

    Not quite Randy Moss, there is only one Randy Moss. I see Marqise Lee as a bigger Steve Smith (Carolina Panthers) a very physical and explosive playmaker who can't be covered 1 on 1. Marqise is a special player and I'm glad he's playing for SC !!! Fight On !!!

  • @GlobalWarmingSkeptic

    Just because you have a receiver that's fast, it doesn't mean he's easier to throw to. All of Luck's receivers are like tight ends, and his tight ends are like receivers. It's much easier to throw to a 6'4" 240 pound target than it is to throw to a 6'1" 190lb receiver. Look at their rosters for yourself and tell me who stands up physically, and what targets a QB would love to throw to.

    Possession guys ??? well it depends on how you utilize what you got. Wes Welker is no more of a possession WR at NE than Keyshawn Johnson was at TB. It depends on ball placement by the QB and body awareness by the WR. Yes bigger WR's make better possession players but only if they can catch or get open.

    Blow for Barkley

  • @VM805
    @VM80512 жыл бұрын

    I thought the knock on Luck was his arm strength ??? And how exactly do you determine arm strength ??? The only thing I would give to Luck over Barkley would be his ability to break down defenses with his legs. Other than that they both possess very good arm strength and pocket awareness. Barkley does miss alot of easy throws under pressure, but most of the time its because he has too much confidence in his arm and tends to force alot of passes when he should just throw it out of bounds.

  • @GlobalWarmingSkeptic
    @GlobalWarmingSkeptic12 жыл бұрын

    USC has good receivers, but they're not big possession guys. They're not going to catch everything thrown to them. They are the kind that are going to smoke people deep every now and then. Luck's receivers are all 6'2" plus and 210lbs plus. A receiving corps like that is going to catch a lot more passes. Barkley has more of an NFL style offense with NFL style receivers, so his production is more representative of what you could see in the NFL.

    Underachieving? Barkley holds the PAC record for touchdowns in a season. His stats were better than Luck's last year with one less game. How is that underachieving?

    Ummm you're only allowed to play 4 yrs in College. Are you an SEC fan also ??? How much longer do you want the guy to stay in school ?? Btw nobody wants to be drafted or play for the Browns, that's a death sentence, just ask Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn and Colt McCoy how that worked out for them.......oh yeah I almost forgot Tim Couch (Ouch) Go Niners !!!

    Doesn't really matter if he goes #1 or #2, he will be going to a shitty team unfortunately. I just hope he can break the cycle of hate that all SC QB's get coming into the NFL. I just want him to win where ever he goes so these SEC ball washers can shut up about SC QB's disappearing once they get drafted. Thanks alot Matt Leinart.....smh

    He has lost draft stock. He probably be a top 12 pick. He has about 7 slots. He would have been top 5 last yr. If He drops down then he loses tens of millions. Matt Barkley is not as good as Aaron Rogers and he went 21 to Packers. Yes he is dumb take the Money and run. He can get his education during the off season.

    Matt Cassel 2.0 This kid is over rated. I don't see anything special. The Chiefs should pass. Kinda sad that there isn't a QB this year as none of them stand out from the pack. Should have grab Luck or RG3 last year.
