Tomacchan & Tsugu-Tsugu were acting as Asuna & Kirito for over a decade now. I feel old, It feels like I was just a young teen, yesterday watching SAO for the first time. I can't wait for the nostalgia to kick back again once I saw SAO: Progressive in the Cinema.

Thinking back, when I saw the list upcoming anime on neregate (anyone still remember that site?😁), SAO poster was really eye catching among the list. Moreover the trailer was really epic; the cutscenes, the OST, the narration also complement it with "Humanity finally-" and I was thinking like "Dude this is gonna be awesome". Yes I also can't believe it's almost 10 years now isn't it. I think I've re-watched 2 times for SAO S1 and once for S2. I don't know when I'll re-watch for Alicization since time feels shorter as I'm getting older. Still, another decade with SAO? Hell yeah!

It does give you a sense of how much history these two have together in terms of working together and playing these characters, as well as with the rest of the crew.

Imagine being a seiyuu cadet from Hokkaido to live in Tokyo, after some random cast finally got to be selected to become the main cast only the second time, while you are working with an army of famous VAs. That is pretty much what Tsugu Tsugu is when he did the recording of SAO S1. No one including himself would ever known he would become a celebrity almost over night and become a synonym of the most iconic male character of the decade.

And considering he also has social anxiety. Rather than letting his mental illness get to him he took courage and took on the challenge. He’ll be forever as one of the people i look up to

Indeed. But I believe that he is more famous as Petelguese. He has range, he tries all kind of characters and he nails them.

Wait Tsugu-san famous because of SAO? Wow this is the first I heard it. I still can't believe it tho, so is it the same case as Koga Aoi, now famous because of voicing Kaguya-sama?

@@nurusds3 Yep, he debuted around 2009 but his career really took off in 2012 due to SAO. I remember how booming the anime was in my 2nd year in high school.

@@nurusds3 He was going a lot of works but never made that great of an impact. However, when he auditioned for SAO, the director said "I want him as Kirito, there is no other choice here. Cancel others" and Tsugutsugu nailed Kirito. It made him a household celebrity in a matter of months. He did a lot of side character voice in Jojo before SAO but never got any main.

I think Yoshitsugu has improved hugely over the years, as you can see him slipping glances to Tomacchan throughout the video when he couldn't even look in her direction in the past. Hope he continues to enjoy life, and maybe voice No Game No Life if there's season 2 😉
