l always considered nureyev very good dancer for a certain number of years in his carrer ,untill early 70's ,later went worst and worst for many reasons but as coreoghrapher always l considered him a calamity

pediatrapaola LMAO you know I prefer Yuri and Volodya to Rudi. His choreography...well, it's messy and anti-musical but I do appreciate that he gave the male dancers more material to dance although he gave them too much... I think his finest choreography is this variation and the famous Variation Lente both from the vision scene of his "Belle" I know most people hate this variation and the Variation Lente but I adore them, especially Lente and here's why: It's one of the only two choreos Rudi ever choreographed that actually ADDS something to the story and reveals a lot about how Desiré feels about his life (I also love the fact that he choreographed the Variation Lente to the most beautiful part of Tchaikovsky's score that is usually left behind) This variation we're seeing I adore because I live to see intricate footwork and here's lots of it, the other only truly good choreo he created was Abderakhman's solos in his Raymonda, truly stunning and they also reveal something about the character but he was tartar so he knew about warriors, but in general *I agree with you* , his choreography is often a calamity, BUT we have to admit his productions are usually stunning, the costumes and sets are the most beautiful and I'd take them over the Soviet versions anyday, and speaking of his Belle, I've seen thousands of recordings and there are only 2(3) dancers that have been able to dance it successfully (Nureyev couldn't do it): For almost 20 years Legris was the only dancer able to nail almost 95% of the choreo.....but then in 2013 Ganio delivered *PERFECTION* 100% , Legris was the only dancer in almost 20 years that ALMOST nails the Variation Lente....until Ganio in 2013, Ganio is the only dancer in history able to nail the Variatio Lente 100% both technically and artistically. In regard to This variation we're seeing Legris was the only dancer able to NAIL this variation until Ganio also nailed it in 2013, so there is a tie between Ganio and Legris, they both nailed it technically BUT present very different interpretations and I can't pick one because I love both interpretations (Legris coached Ganio so no wonder they're the only 2 dancers able to make this choreo look good, everyone else, Rudi included look like ducks on ice 😂) I think if Nureyev were alive he would either cry of joy or cry of jealousy because someone, Ganio, has been finally able to dance his "Belle" to *PERFECTION* and be Desiré 100%. sorry for the shamefully long answer, I'm a freak :(

go on my channel on the playlist ,l added (is the last video ) a never seen on YT documentary about soloviev ,note that is the ballet creation of the world in the role of GOD he performs revoltades far before that baryshnikov showed in west after his deection in 1974.

Delphine C Oh my God of course Mathias can nail it because he is technically superb but he is not suited to the character the way Ganio is, Ganio IS Desiré and Mathias IS Bluebird
