I agree that studying mathematics is similar to learning a language. It is because I constantly struggle with learning new things, not only in mathematics but also in learning a new language. For example, I am also enrolled in a Basic Foreign Language course and a Japanese class. Being a bilingual Filipino citizen, I only knew English and Tagalog, and learning, reading, and writing Nihongo is difficult for me. Similar to learning the many fields of mathematics, I need to practice solving mathematical problems, understanding its symbols, meaning, and aims, and attempting to express the context and conventions precisely. The same is true for learning a new language; I must practice studying, reading, and writing that new language effectively in order to prevent incorrect conceptions and misunderstanding, which can lead to problems that can get me in trouble.
