Math Hoffa on Why He Fired Esso & Hynaken from My Expert Opinion (Part 19)

Ойын-сауық

Watch Full Interview: • Math Hoffa on Boosie v...
Part 18: • Math Hoffa: Tony Yayo ...
Part 20: • Math Hoffa on the Hist...
--------
In a recent interview between Vlad and Math Hoffa, the two discussed a controversy involving Esso and Hynaken leaving Hoffa's podcast. The hosts cleared up any suspicion that Esso and Hynaken's departure was caused by someone else. Instead, Hoffa explained that they were fired for creating their own podcast while still being part of his. This move directly violated the agreement they had, which was to focus on Hoffa's podcast. Vlad shared a similar experience he had on his show and stated that employees sign a non-compete agreement to prevent such incidents. The non-compete bars staff from creating content that could compete with the existing platform. Both Vlad and Hoffa concurred that being employed full-time and attempting to create competing content doesn't work and is detrimental to the functioning of the original platform. Hoffa spoke on how the situation affected him and his disappointment that even with confirmation that what they claimed was untrue, they continued to perpetuate the lie.

@@KtotheG You don’t need money to be “entrepreneurial.” Being an entrepreneur is a mindset first. You don’t need money to start a business, per se; depends on what business and the scale of it. Having a podcast is nothing more than just a room and lav mics w/ a decent Canon camera. Then build your audience slowly. Taking a small job to save money here and there is normal. Apparently Math was the one doing shady sh*t first by not paying them. Math said that he fired them because they held is equipment hostage, now he said they fired them because they started their own podcast. Math gave two different reasons, lol. Either way I can’t blame them for starting their own. I would’ve done the same; as an independent person that’s my lot in life. I can sort of relate to this in a different way. I had a nice little weed operation going with about 9 people under me. The whole point of me putting other people in position was the fact I had too many customers to handle. So I sent my customers to my employees and I hadled the bigger transactions but then some of the people I put on started giving out their number to my customers and started getting their weed from someone else and I had to cut them off. Like nah thats not how this shit works. I put you in position to move my product not yours. If you want to be in my position that's fine but not at the expense of me losing my clientele, people wouldnt even have known you existed if it wasnt for me. Its sort of the same thing with this situation. I don't see why that's so hard to understand.

Math, Mecca, and Champ are the best formula if you ask me. Bigga didn’t speak much but his perspective on things as an elder was dope to me. It made sense with the whole barbershop formula to have the older guy in the cut. Every barbershop has that older guy that’s been cutting hair forever. Sure Math can run the show by himself and I would still watch no doubt, but in my opinion, with the barbershop formula, it just feels better when the chairs are full. Having new people every show would be dope as well. That would work in the barbershop and give it that feel as well. I have a feeling that the show is either about to go to that next level, or it’s about to fall apart. I honestly don’t know which way it’s going to go but I believe either way up or way down for sure.

Nah I only partially agree here. A non compete in some instances make much sense but ya talking about it like ya non competes are ONLY for when a person is on the show. Nah.. non competes be for the show AND when that worker leaves the show. Ya talking about non competes in a way that justifies al non competes. Non-compete are notorious for limiting and stifling justifiable competition. Non competes dont be like.. You cant make a podcast while on a podcast. Non competes be like you cant make a podcast while on a podcast or be on a another podcast if you leave, quit or fire or even work for another podcast for 3 years. Alot of times its even vaguer than that, like replacing the word podcast for the word broadcast or audio.. Once that happens its not about making sure a worker isnt stealing work.. Its about making sure that worker never gets work or is able to benefit from the very hardwork they put on. You might be the face of the show but you dont do it in a vacuum and somebody who is bringing the talent, charisma and energy to your show that's amassing you views and clout shouldnt be allow to steal work from you while on your show but they shouldnt be barred from the relationships and connections they have created themselves for the a large portion of their career.

Math Hoffa isn’t a business man. He doesn’t pay his people. You can’t expect loyalty and not pay your people.

This is why we go to college or take a couple of business courses. Learn about BUSINESS before you do business. Unless they're your EMPLOYEES they can do WTF they want. NO CONTRACT, NO OWNERSHIP, if you not PAYING their TAXES, they not your EMPLOYYEES.

3:03 To say he can’t use your equipment to further advance their career is cringe worthy. As their boss why would you not want them to prosper by lending equipment to your employee?

It's a liability issue. So you're the type who feels that employees should be partners without engaging in the same risks and putting up the same capital? That's not how business is conducted.
