The part about saving money didn’t really have the full context though the 5 piece Mayhew prybar set is 80$ on Amazon right now while the 4 piece Matco prybar set is 262$ . The same tools ! I try buy some stuff from my local tool truck that no one else makes like Mac RBRT bits . When the price however is more than 3x or is 4x the price of the maker it’s really hard to go shell out the money. I get most of my name brand tools from the local swap meet or offerup. Second hand it seems like the prices get to a spot where it’s justifiable !

I've never brought a tool off a truck. I own craftsman tools mostly from the 1970s and love them. I now buy vintage tools on line when I need tools for particular jobs. Most times they are just for a few uses, and I still get old brands made in USA cheap.

I’m 22 years old and recently I’ve started buying more American made products because of a quote I read online which went “Buy American before it’s bye America” I used to go through crazy lengths to find the manufacture of every Matco tool just to see if I can buy it cheaper but some of these companies aren’t even in the United States and I’ve realized that not buying American made things really does affect the economy drastically so now I try to buy mostly snap on and Matco American made products such as their step drill bits and pry bars

Since you brought up warranty, Vampire Tools warranty sucks. I bought a couple of their screw extractor pliers about five years ago directly off their website. Well the end of one of the jaws chipped off while I was using one of the pliers. I went on their website, which involves sending an email inquiry. I included a pic. They refused me unless I could provide my "original sales receipt". I don't have a receipt from five years ago. Maybe I should, maybe I shouldn't have the receipt. Vampire warranty sucks.

My Matco guy seen them and ordered some to put on his truck to sell. All drill bits are pretty well made by the exact same vendor if their quality bits. Same with step bits.

So we rescheduled our trip to this past may 28th 2022. i did our boarding passes online along with the airline check in on may 27th. our plane was to depart from newark airport may 28th at 8:20am. i was awakened by my phones text alert from united at 2:40 am stating our 8:20 am flight out of newark was cancelled!!!! WTF?? they reschedule our flight for much later that day. Again WTF is going on in this country??? i guess we were lucky being we were only 12 hrs delayed!! The airline industry sucks these days!! anyhow i love matco tools. ive been a loyal customer since 1980!! I will pay extra money for tools no matter what because they come to me every Monday and Wednesday and I can pay for what I can that week now shelling out 500$ for tools or a box because when I am done with work I wanna go home and have a beer not drive somewhere to get a tool replaced because it is broken that’s why the tool truck I get on will always get my money

Clay, I like watching these videos but if you all are ragging on Amazon, why do you have a bunch of Amazon affiliated links on you KZread channel? I hate Amazon so I agree that buying local is better but you have to practice what you preach.

I don’t buy off Amazon hardly ever, they are there because people are constantly complaining they don’t have a tool truck and ask for products. Many are the same tools sold on Matco trucks. I’m just doing what people ask. I’ve said it several times, I try to avoid buying from Amazon and tell people to always shop local or off a tool truck if possible

You say you buy from tool trucks, because of ALL these benefits you get. You also admit that people don’t get those benefits if the tool guy don’t know/trust you. Sounds like a catch 22 doesn’t it? I’m sure more people would buy from tool trucks if their tool truck driver offered the same service YOUR tool truck driver provides to you straight away. Mechanic Michael paying Matco Michael 10x the price for a ratchet, and Matco Michael doesn’t give Mechanic Michael that “top notch” service because they just met seems a little one sided. I get WHY you buy the things you buy. Your tool guys are your friends. Unfortunately, I think that fact is lost on a lot of people that watch the videos. Your experience is NOT typical. I’m sure people will comment saying they have great tool guys also, but again, it’s not typical to most of us. These videos should be taken like those MLM money making videos, and come with a disclaimer (Koon’s results NOT TYPICAL to average consumer).

Well every tool dealer and I do mean EVERY tool dealer that came to my shop were complete strangers. Didn’t know them or hear of them. It’s your decisions that dictate if you will have a good relationship. When Michael Matco started coming and Hamilton on the snap on truck. I got zero deals or price breaks. Just buy something pay more than you agree each week and hold your end of the bargain. Over time the pricing gets better. Plus you have to talk to your dealer. Make small talk that’s all it takes before long that dealer becomes a friend. Simple.
