The Ferrari F40 needs no introduction. The final production car to be given the nod from Enzo himself was developed from the ashes of the Group B 288 GTO Evoluzione project. It ended up as a pinup supercar for the ages, despite being described by Gordon Murray as being a "go-kart with a big plastic body on top".
The Matchbox casting arrived in 1988 and spent six years mostly unchanged, with all mainline castings red with Ferrari emblems. Then, the wild liveries of the Tyco era set in for a few years before it returned to more normal looking designs following Mattel's takeover in 1997.
My casting I pinpointed to being a 1994 model. It had been very badly scratched all over and the iconic rear wing had been crushed. For this restomod, I naturally return it to red while adding in some of the additional detail plus I gave it a new set of five spoke deep dish boots.

Looks great! I know I have said it before, but I always love that you take the extra time to talk about the history of each car. To me, that history is one of the best parts of this hobby. I think if there was anything I would change on the build, it's that I would place a small piece of sheet styrene under the front axle to lower the front end a bit, and give it a more realistic stance to the road cars.

Such a dramatic and successful improvement on the original. Incidentally you're not wrong about the hideous colour schemes in which it was offered.
aside all that, I just noticed how the detailing seems to make the model look bigger. then again I'm watching on a laptop screen, which is a few inches short of a stamp... XD the detailing seems accurate to me. :) also, great wheels! great work, once again. ^^

Agreed with your comments Jason, matchbox excelled with this casting as well as you did with your resto mod. Looks stunning now. Good work on rear spoiler by the way. One little point, could you have added some silver behind on the headlights maybe for added realistic effect? Keep er lit ya boy ye!
