MATCHBOX 1-75 Superfast

Ойындар

My collection of 1970's Matchbox 1-75 Superfast cars that I've been collecting on and off since 1997. When collecting these 70's toys, I tend to gravitate to those cars that I owned and played with in the 1970's / early 80's. This video is a showcase of the current collection. The dates given in the video are the year of each vehicle's manufacture and are also printed on the base of each car.
The Superfast series of diecast vehicles were manufactured under the Matchbox banner by Lesney Products between the years 1969-1982. The cars were all manufactured in England, during a time when Britain had a fantastic toy making industry with iconic companies like Matchbox, Corgi, Dinky, Palitoy and Denys Fisher. It feels really good to look at the base of a 50 year old diecast car and see the words, "made in England" or "Great Britain" stamped upon it. You know you are looking at quality.
Of course today, the Matchbox and Corgi names still exist but they were bought out years ago by foreign companies, and are now produced almost exclusively in the far east.

Wow mate, what a fantastic collection, and thanks for sending me back to my childhood. I had a few of these, I think I have a handful up in the loft somewhere, I must seek them out! One thing that struck me while watching was how much fun the designers were having when naming the cars! Totally went over my head, obviously, as a small boy. But come on! Hot Rocker, Big Banger, Piston Popper, Pi-eyed Piper, Number 69 on the Turbo Fury, and best of all, the Hairy Hustler!!! I thought the Cosmobile was named for you mate! Thanks for the top video and hope the weekend's going well for ya mate! 🙏🙏👌👌👍👍

Hi mate, I'd never considered the names in this light before, but now you mention it..🤣😂, yes they are very Carry On aren't they ? I suppose they're both from the same era. Now I'm surprised they never released an ambulance named the 'Mellow Matron.' Yes the Cosmobile could very well be my own personal vehicle...I wish. I think there are a lot of folk who have a collection of theses ( or very similar ) in their lofts. Thanks for the great comment as always dude and giving me a good laugh...👍🏻😎🙂.

I must admit, the name "Hairy Hustler" did cause me to raise an eyebrow when I read it... I love that red Mk. I Capri.

@@Del350K4 Hairy Hustler - it's really odd isn't it? I'd never even considered the concept until Mark pointed it out. Yes the Hot Rocker, a real beauty, a lot of folk mistake that one for an Escort, but it is indeed a Capri - Well spotted ;))
