A lot of football fans are reactionary by nature mate, sure some who've been around years called for Eddie out, but social media isn't an accurate representation of the views of average fans. As he always has, Eddie silenced the doubters.

Match Cam quality has gone to a different level! Just delicious. The Mackems really did scream at the top of their lungs. This is probably the loudest hostile stadium we faced so far this season. Shame their lads are not up to scratch, but mighty generous they have been with all the own goals, and fouls. Up the toon!

The Unclean literally rolled out the red carpet for us during the build up to the game 😂…. Their owners shit house’d the whole Sunderland fan base then we came and literally laid the cream and cherry on top hahaha couldn’t make this up 😂😂😂😂😂🖤🤍

It's great how Dan Burn just loves any banter - same when they were out for a walk before in London and they got some banter from a West Ham fan. He just gets it from a fans perspective and appreciates it's not personal (or not always anyway...)
