The people living in what is known as Matabele state in Zimbabwe are often referred to as the Ndebele, AmaNdebele, Matabele or Northern Ndebele. They are factually distinguished from the Southern Ndebele in South Africa who speak a different language and culture. The Ndebele in Zimbabwe are the descendants of His Majesty Mzilikazi Khumalo's followers who originate in what is today known as Kwa-Zulu Natal South Africa. There are some who's ancestors originate in other parts of Southern Africa as many joined Mzilikazi in his journey but their language and cultural arrangement is identical to that of the great Zulu nation found in Natal. I may be wrong but in My opinion, it would be more historically and culturally accurate to either refer to them as Northern Zulu's or call them by another name such as the nation of Mkhwanazi in the alternative. That being said, I am fascinated by their culture and their heritage. Much love and respect to the Mkhwanazi people. Bayede!

I am hearing that for the first time but I seriously doubt your definition of mahlabezulu. The word mahlabezulu means thunderstorms. Isiqalo salon leligama mahlabe means woe. Yes Ndebele people are on record addressed as mahlabezulu. Mthwakazi means beautiful. How befitting would it be that they named the new Zululand uMthwakazi

One thing hurts me the most about our kingdom is the fact that Ndebele people are so loyal and easily get carried away. We trust much in our word without knowing the other side. Here our warriors surrendered IZIKHALI to the whites ngomnali. In the same Manner, ngempi YENTUMBANE ZIPRA FORCES HAD TO SURRENDER AGAIN ngobaba UNKOMO. Kungani kwanjalo? The king obviously cared for his people and was cheated by Rudd, Rhodes and many others. Lobengula is depicted very honorably in the history book diamonds, gold and war: the making of South Africa. I wish I could read more about him and his times.

Because those that eventually conquer re-write history to suit their own designs, and hence undermine truth, as they seek to replace that culture with their own. I, am a Cornish man of 61 years. The English took from my people our language, and replaced it with theirs. They killed and starved my people in the 1400's, they took our mineral wealth for their own. We were too few to resist them for long. They were well versed in treachery and lies and cruelty before they set sail for Africa to impose their iron hand on her peoples Tina. Such were the English that the Cornish suffered under.

@@xeshandlovu8084 lmao what kind of history is that? Zimbabwean Ndebele is just a mix of isiZulu and a bit of IsiXhosa and South African Ndebele is like a mix of Zulu and Sesotho Sepedi and Setswana
