I’ve always suspected that the mess I make when sealing things was due to me being a buffoon. Now I have to admit I was right. Great craftsmanship, thanks.

Same. I get a neat result with the squeegee tools but always gotta really hustle. The stick method is pro level. So few know this art

Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it. Here I am using 'Mapei Silicone Moon White'. The best affordable white high modulus silicone for bathrooms in my opinion is Everbuild S50 or 3c Sealants. I usuall buy all my Sealants from www.sealantsonline.co.uk

Thats how you do it. Skill and years of practise. Those plastic profiling things just make a mess, but I'm not skilled enough to do it like this! So I just make a mess!

It looks like you’re not applying any pressure on the stick as you run it along the silicone. Is this correct?

Hi I’ve only just come across your videos. And only come across this technique. I do a lot of reseals round showers and baths and I’m always looking for better ways to improve the finish. So I’ve So I’ve made myself some Wooden shaping tools. My question is. How long before you go back to the silicone are you waiting. I’ve done a few practice runs and I seem to have a lot of access. Do you wait a number of minutes before you go back thank you

The sooner you tool in the better, with my method I don't have any excess or wastage as I try to put down the perfect amount required and then straighten the bead with my tool. You can buy my tools on a link on my Instagram page. instagram.com/Southcoastsealantsltd

Nice work on the sealant 👍. Not a fan of the colour though. (White doesn't age well). I would have gone for a light grey to match the tiles.

Agreed. White doesn't age well as people don't tend to keep it clean. I usually offer a coloured silicone as an alternative as it's easier to keep clean. Sometimes clients just prefer white or in this case a Moon white by Mapei

You are the first person I've seen that does it right, you show that its equally important to get the delivery from the gun even which will save work when smoothing it out. I like the way you tapered the stick to cope with different width beads, very clever. Is it just washing up liquid mixed with water that you spray the stick with ???

Why thank you I am glad you appreciate my work. Yes its water and fairy liquid. I won't take credit for it all as I have picked up tips and tricks over the years from other applicators. But it is still quite difficult to do which I am proud of as it takes a lot of practice and patience!

Thanks for the reply, yes you are right it is very hard to do and you do need full concentration and patience. What I like about your work is you don't scrape it off but smooth it off, most I've seen end up with a mess even when using their fancy silicone tools. The taper on the stick is so simple but brilliant, I never thought of that. I tried this work recently and wasn't happy but now I've watched a pro doing it I'll try to get better. Thanks for letting me know about the fairy liquid.

@@DEXTER941 yes the good thing about this method is there is no excess silicone wasted which saves a lot of money if you do it for a living. It is also good to excersize the scraping method which I would recommend for beginners as it can save your ass when sealing behind bath taps or places where you are unable to do the smoothing method. Thanks for your comments i hope to make a tutorial on how to make these sticks or even sell them to people who are unable to make them

@@mikewilliams2477 you could but the chizel wouldnt absorb the water and fairy liquid solution like the wood does. The silicone would stick to the chizel leavng the applicator and client both unhappy 😔

He can't. Because he doesn't scrap off the excess, he uses a shaped wooden stick with a chiselled end to tool it in to make a more long lasting seal and finish.
